My oldest nephew lives in Ottawa. His dad is not a gun guy or hunter and his grandfather no longer has the eye sight to drive and take him out. He's a good kid and is really in to hunting.

I will be down with them for christmass this year and plan to bring the .22 to take him out to try for squirrels or anything. Just to get him out.

Anyone have any land or know were I can take him? Pm me if you like. I just won't have the time to knock on doors.

IIRC, the Marlborough Forest used to be unoccupied crown land just east of Ottawa, very near North Gower.
Be prepared to run into pompous citidiots on the trails though.
If you don't mind a longer drive, take Highway 17 west to at least to Cobden, (cross country ski trails south side of the highway leading to an old apple orchard/farm) or even further past Pembroke to Petawawa township and then drive south-west to the end of Black Bay Road for more crown land. On the way to there you pass new subdivisions on the edge of Petawawa and a few older farms ending blacktop to gravel with a final ending of the road, (good place to park) to a rocky goat trail continuing into the forest. From there, going back to Petawawa, just a short drive up Highway 17 going west again, towards Deep River/Chalk River is the Petawawa National Forestry also. That area is multi-use,
(logging trucks, forestry research) and you'll have to sign in and sign out of the one access gate that has an evening curfew for locking the gate on a daily basis.
I'm sure there's areas in between, but these used to be my old stomping grounds.

Larose forest allows hunting & is not far from Ottawa. Here's a link for you.

Most of the City of Ottawa lands have a "No discharge" bylaw. Here's a link that show where you can legally discharge a firearm in Ottawa. Maps are at the bottom of the page. http://www.ottawa.ca/residents/bylaw/a_z/firearms/index_en.html

What he said.
The area in behind Deep and Chalk river has lots of game, well established logging roads and lots of trails.

When you go to Ottawa, I tell this to everyone, go to the corner of Bank and Laurier and get a hot dog from the stand in front of the Northwest corner of L'espanade Du Laurier. The guys name is Terry, lesters hotdogs, fresh buns daily, the dogs are first steamed then grilled...my mouth is watering.

There's also the Mountain Wildlife Area just west of Winchester, On. (south of Ottawa down Hwy 31) and the Limerick Forest which is just west of Spencerville, On. Further south yet is the Edwardsburg Land Assemblies.
