Alberta Poker Rally 2016

So.. there are a few guys looking to drive up Saturday morning and were wondering what time to arrive. I told them to meet me at 6:00 at the reservoir assuming that we're going to start from the same spot/time as last year. Am I on the right track there?

I'm pouring 400' of concrete gradebeam in Edmonton at noon then home to Wetaskiwn to load up and I'll be on my way. Hopefully there'll still be enough room in the group site for my little tent when I get there.

What time will we be rolling out in the morning?

We will be leaving the campsite for station 1 little after 7 am

t was a great time, despite some nasty weather rolling in. Nothing like adding to the challenge of a long range shoot like pouring rain, rolling thunder and mist obscuring the targets!

I want to send out a huge thanks to Steve for organizing this shoot, to all the volunteers who gave up their time to RSO, to the cooks who made such an amazing meal and especially to the sponsors who helped to make such an awesome prize table possible.

Snipezilla and I had a great time both shooting and visiting with old faces and new. I'm sorry, I can't remember everyone I talked to but all of them were great folks. An extra thanks goes to Bear who loaned me a pair of Impact Pro electronic ear muffs to try out since I'm in the market for some. That act of generosity is what makes this community great.

The sponsors of the shoot are who really pull the shoot together, help make it possible and put up the awesome prizes. Snipezilla and I both walked away with shooting mats. Hers is very well designed mat made and donated by Red Star Target and mine is a lightweight, packable Eberlestock mat donated by Milarm. After playing a bit with each of them this morning, I recommend checking out both companies if you're in the market for a shooting mat.

We also each received patches and lanyards from Tactical Innovations, a patch from ####### and the famous Poker Rally Spice.

Huge thanks to those sponsors in particular from us. :D

My first time shooting the course, not the first time out though. I thought it was wonderful! In the wilds of Alberta, great people, and pretty challenging shooting. I finished the last two stages in a raging thunder storm with emense lightning and torrential downpours. And then the drive out was an equal adventure! I will definately go next year. And to those of you on the fence about this, you just need to experience the fun and people in this wonderful event.

Thanks to Steve and all of his accomplices who put together an epic event. Also a major thanks to all the sponsors who donated the swag that we all enjoyed. Congrats to Fay for the best hand and the new EM Precision rifle....I am jealous! To Richard...an awesome meal (I went back for thirds).

I hope this event keeps growing. For only the third year, it seems like these people have been organizing this all of their lives. It just went so smootly. Except for a little bit of a back-up at one of the stages, the trip around the course was very easy and smooth. The weather just added to the adventure! And the weather kept the bugs away.

Congrats to Steve and everyone who helped make this a memorable weekend.

Huge thanks to Steve, Shane and the rest of the guys. This was a great event, very well run. I will definitely be back again next year.
Thanks to all the sponsors and RSO's as well, it wouldn't be the same wth out them.
