Alberta Poker Rally Shoot 2015" updated with camping info

I keep getting asked how the poker hand aspect of this event works.
How many targets are to be engaged through out the day? One target per station?
How many shots are allowed at each target and how are cards awarded?
Maybe explain (to my very simple mind) the process as I would roll into a station:)

Thanks.

After reading about this from last years, really looking forward to participating this year. While still a novice shooting at those distances, I can see the event being a great experience for me and the fam jam while providing a challenge from both the shooting and off-roading aspects.

Work currently being done on my rifle by alberta tactical, but should be ready well in advance to the event. Didn't notice a link purchase tickets, guessing that's just done on a individual bases via pm? If so, hit me up, happy to sign the dotted line.

You will come to station #1 , set up your gear. There will be three targets set out anywhere from 50 yds out to 500 ish , you will engage the three targets and for every hit you make( you have 5 rounds to make three hits ) the RSO will lay out a single card . You will clear your rifle (verified by the RSO ) and you will choose a single card of the possible three . The RSO will mark your score card and you will follow the map to your next station.

There will be a single target set out somewhere along the course that will be around the 1200 yrd mark , if you make a hit on this target you are allowed to change any card in your hand to a joker. After your done your shoot and you have a full hand of cards your finished and you pack up and head back to the staging area and hand your card off to me and we will tabulate all the hands and award prizes for the top 4 hands( depending on the prizes avaiable to us ) . After the prizes are handed out you will feast on a bbq pig and socialize with all the other shooters . We generally gather somewhere between Ricks land yacht and my trailer . With some drinks in hand and a fire rolling someplace there is good fun to be had shooting the #### with everyone .

When do the registrations be in and is there a maximum amt of shooters? I may not know my work sched until june.

I think this year we are aiming for a maximum of 40 shooters. We have been considering uping that to 50 if we sell out fast and get a couple more RSO volunteers. We are still figuring that out. Need to make sure we can get that many shooters through. As Steve said, June 25th is cut off.

Well the head count is up to 23 shooters as of this morning , spots are filling fast . Remember we are only opening 40 spots and we are over half full in four days . I am still working on the campsite . This year is proving to be a challenge to arrange the camping in the same area as it was last year .

Hope ya got me on the list!......and I'll get in touch with the farmer....

Yes pls let him know that there is a bottle of whiskey that he missed out on last year and it's still here waiting for someone to find the bottom of ! You were the first to let me know you have a donation for the shoot so you have been penciled in since the day after the shoot last year !

Me, my dad and my brother are all registered.
My dad bought a new gun just to participate.
I've been bugging my bro to start practicing out to 1200 yards.
I told him if he's lucky the target might be a 4x8 sheet of plywood.
Let the rubbing begin.
Can't wait :)

That's funny. At 1200 it is a body target from my other company so 18x24. We had a few guys connect with it last year !

payment sent steve .... (well come monday anyhow )

i better get some practise in out to 1200 ....been a while

are we supposed to donate something ??? or is dmay a sponsor ???

Dmay always kicks in something for the shoot .Mind you I also think he tries to win it back by the end of the shoot cause he always gives some cool stuff !!

To clarify, we won't be driving up mountains or through rivers will? A non-modified jeep with an amateur driver would be able to navigate the course?
or is this also a test of one's off-road capabilities?
