Myself and a few friends went on a sporting clays tour from Thursday till Sunday, and I thought I'd share our impressions from the clubs we frequented.

We only ended up at two places instead of the 3 that we had set out to visit. We ended up at New Serepta on Jeremy Hutchings course, and then at Hidden Ridge Sporting Clays by Kitscotty run by Alvin Flath.

Both places made arrangements for us to shoot more rounds then we initially had booked due to dropping the one range from the tour at the last minute. Both places were more then accommodating in letting us set up our holiday trailer at their ranges, and had terrific ranges.

I have nothing to say but great things about both ranges, and both operators. Jeremy and Alvin are as accommodating and pleasant as a person could ever hope for. I highly encourage everyone to check out both ranges, they were excellent courses and we had an absolute blast.

Should have contacted me, I would have opened up the Lloydminster Gun club for you as well. Could have shot some trap and skeet to round out the trip!

Thanks, I didn't realize you guys have skeet there, might have to add that onto the menu next year. That's the club on the east side of highway 17 south of Lloyd?

Well, if you are interested in visiting new places, may I suggest that next year you cross the Rockies and visit Radium, Golden and Kamloops. You would be in for a treat.

It's too bad Tofield was unable/unwilling to accommodate the trip. Oh well, their loss was the others gain.

A big thanks to Alvin and Jeremy for the hospitality.

Hiway 17 south, six miles south of the Yellowhead.

Pat traps, Canterbury releases, and a skeet field.

Fairly expensive though. $4 per round of 25. And if that wasn't bad enough, we want $10 PER YEAR for membership! If you don't want to get screwed like that, you can buy target cards for 16 rds/$50.

Won't someone think of the children!

Holy crap. That has to be about the cheapest targets in Alberta.

Yes we do. In fact, we are one of the few clubs around this area that have all three, trap, skeet and sporting clays. We generally hold a two day sporting clays shoot in the spring and another in the fall.Check our website from time to time for info. Thanks. silvercityclays.ca

Firtst time I tried sporting clay was at a Hidden Ridge Oilmen Shoot. Got me hooked! Glad to hear it's getting more and more popular.

Crap!!! That is the same weekend we plan to hold our Elmer Fudd shoot in Radium. 260 rabbit and low flying targets over 2 days. Our dates are subject to any conflict with a shoot in Alberta on the same weekend. The 2012 CNSCA/ASCA schedule has not yet been finalized.
