Well, after rumours for the past few years, the Government of Alberta finally did it!
Yesterday, the Province announced that the annual spring grizzly hunt has been suspended for three years. There has been heat from the usual greenpeacers, and I guess they wan. The "experts" say that the numbers have been going down. However, when you talk to the ones that really know (ie.hunters, trappers, and yes, some Conservation Officers), that is not the case.
So now, a 3 year long survey will start. Interestingly, this will not apply to natives...Go figure!
