Alberta Sunday hunting!!

Apparently, at the SCI banquet last night, Ted Morton announced province wide Sunday hunting for game birds, as well as Sunday hunting for big game in 200, 300, 400 and 500 WMUs. Not confirmed yet, but I heard it from a reliable source.

Heard rumors of this the other night. Was it for ALL big game species in ALL the zones?
It is good for some species to get put back in check, not so much for others.

From what I understand, it's all big game, for all WMUs in 200, 300, 400 and 500. In the 100s, that had Thursday to Saturday will change to Wednesday to Saturday.

Good news for us Monday to Friday guys.

I believe so. Again, this hasn't been confirmed 100% yet.

Morton announced the same at the Fish and Game Association conference in Edmonton back in Feb. I believe it will be in effect this fall.

Mixed emotions here.
I'm with Noel in that the deer population, especially around Calgary, needs to be culled somehow - but as a landowner in a heavily hunted area, I appreciated the Sunday without having to duck gunshots while working around the property.
I would have rather seen dedicated shotgun and muzzleloader seasons and a two week extension (under a draw system) to the regular season.

Well, for those "ducking shots"....I'm rural, and welcome this......Is there a problem around some areas ?? If so, that's what the "fish Cops" are for...

No shooting within 300m, or to cause a round to pass within 300m of a building without permission....

Sunday hunting for big game is permitted during the open season in all 200,300,400 and 500 wmus and 841, with the exception of wmu 400-414 where big game hunting on Sundays is limited to November 1-november 30."
