Alberta Tactical Handgun League Match #10 - 27 July 2008 (Pics & Videos added)

The Alberta Tactical Handgun League will be holding its next match at the MVMA range west of Olds on Sunday, July 27th.

The match will consist of 5 stages and 136 rounds (including a couple of stages that include a 'long gun' that will be provided).

Registration will be from 0815 to 0915. A shooters meeting will be held at at approx 0915 and shooting will start NLT 0930.

The long term weather forecast looks great but this being southern Alberta there is also potential for change.

I'm on the road from Borden right now, but I should be on ground in time for a quick turnaround and down to Olds (unless they are paving the province of Saskatchewan again).

To add some authenticity - can I wear my shemagh for the "Welcome to the Suck" stage?

I was planning on dropping by on Saterday to play with my M305, but will the rifle ranges be closed for the day? I'd be glad to help out though!

We are taking up 5 of the original pistol bays. I haven't seen the range condition for a week and a half, so I assume the rifle bays are good to use.

Although the day's weather started out sunny & warm, by mid afternoon the rain came; then the sun came back; then the rain came again! Oh well, this is southern Alberta afterall......

Anyhow, Match #10 is now history and has broken previous ATHL records for attendance. 36 competitors, including 8 first time IDPA shooters, shot in excess of 5000 rounds over 5 very challenging stages. Mike J. (CGN's own 'Beltfed') did an outstanding job as Match director.

What a fun match! Two carbines, and five challenging stages, and I was very impressed with the props. I know how much effort goes into a match and Mike really did a fantastic job. Wait till you see the pictures...

Hopefully we can conscript Mike into helping out with the Alberta Provincials this year

I can't take that much credit. The ideas for the stages came easy, and making the lincoln log was a bit of fun...
Like I said, I enjoyed it as much as any kid with a Sears Catalogue...almost

I cannot stress this enough: HUGE thanks out to Dragoon and Lyne (sp?) , for without their massive amounts of help, this match (and others) would not have happened.

Don't sell yourself short Mike. Although putting on a match is a team effort, (thanks to Jeff C., Steve M., Duane S. and Nicholas L. for helping with the set-up on Saturday) YOU took the lead and ran with it! The results (and the 'buzz' after the match) speaks to your job well done!

As has been previously stated, Match #10 was a HUGE success!
