so ive just been informed my brother is visiting this weekend, wants to come try a match out. he does have experience shooting but no guns of his own and i only have one pistol and holster set.

anyway he could shoot?

You'll need a semi-auto handgun 9mm or larger or a revolver .38 Spl or larger; a concealement style holster; 3 mags (1 in the gun & 2 on the belt) or speedloaders and concealment style pouches; and a concealement garment. You'll also need eye and hearing protection.

Looking GOOOOD for tomorrow!

Win3030, myself, Corp. Pun Jr, and Dragoon were out at MVMA doing the set up today. It was SUNNY and beautiful. :D

The ground is a little wet so folks, wear appropriate footwear.

The weather forecast for tomorrow looks GREAT!! Sunny, warm!!!! :dancingbanana:

This is going to be a great match for new shooters: we have lots of experienced, FRIENDLY, EASY GOING shooters to help out the newbies. If its your first match, this is the one to come to!

We'll be running the classifier as part of the match, so you get a double whammy - you get to play and you get classified.

Looking forward to seeing everybody tomorrow: new shooters introduce yourself to me. I'm Joe, and my son is Dan (who is 12 years old, come on guys, if he can do it, you can). :ar15:

Well, it was a great day out there! Sunny as promised, and tons of fun.:dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

I think we had 30 shooters show up, possibly our best turn out to date!

It went a little long  so I know many shooters had to get outta dodge as soon as the shooting was done.

I'm sure Dragoon will have the scores up soon, stay posted.

It was great to meet all the new shooters, and we're sure looking forward to seeing y'all at the next match in May. I'll be the Match Director for that one.

Joe

Great match! As one of the new shooters we were all made welcome with lots of guiding and help. Great club. Will definitely be at upcoming matches.

x2!!

Had a great time and learned alot from the "chronologically advanced" gents there. I'm really looking forward to coming out again.

I even got to brag to the wife that I placed 14th in my division (haven't told her yet that it was out of 14 in my division:D ). Must have been the bulletproof targets;)

Thanks to Mass, the SO's, and everyone who helped set it up/run the match.

Thanks again to those who shared advice and some good stories.

This was my first time ever doing something like this and it was simply awesome :dancingbanana: Everyone was great and lots of good information / tips to help the new guys like myself out. I'll definitely be back ;)

Well, I've finally got a chance to post the results! (what with my health issues over the past couple of weeks and a couple of long days on the range on the weekend I fell asleep right after supper last night  )

I think we had 30 shooters show up, possibly our best turn out to date!

Joe is right. We had a total of 30 shooters compete in ATHL Match #7 and it IS the best turn out to date. And more than half were first time IDPA/ATHL shooters. ATHL's future looks bright indeed!!!!

Here is how things panned out:

I didn't get a chance to take a lot of photos. My wife Lynne who usually handles stats couldn't get the day off from work so Peter L. and I took over those duties. The few photos I did take I'll post later tonight.

There are five pistol bays at MVMA and soon there will be three more. They're all 20 - 25 yards deep. Not sure how wide......
