Headed out to the range last night to test the final three loads for my rifle. I like to have a couple different bullets just in case supply dries up. I have a large stash of Nosler Custom Comp 140 gr so that was one of my choices. The others include the 140gr SMK and the 140gr Berger VLD target. I am running H4350 out of my 24” barrel and getting 2910 fps with the Noslers. I should have gone out to shoot the MOA challenge but forgot to make up a suitable target. I am really happy with all of the bullets, in particular the Bergers as they will be much better at long range. These are just roughly calipered and subtracted bullet diameter.

Fouling group left, followed by the two Berger groups middle and right.

The last group of the night was a real heartbreaker. My face began to slide from cheek rest as the shot broke. Needless to say I will be rectifying that in the coming days.

That seems pretty fast to me. I've only ever run a 260 though, never an ackley of any sort

Yes in my plain 260 I was only ever getting about 2900 with a 28" barrel. With most recommend using 4831sc in the 260AI but I figured with the decreased barrel length I should try the faster H4350. Some say the Ackley is good for 75-150fps gain over the regular 260 remington. My max load in the 260AI gets me to about 2975 before pressure signs.

I thought it seemed fast as well but both Chrony and ballistic solutions confirm 2910 FWIW.

Thanks for the info. My old 260 really liked the Scenar and H4350, but for the longer range work and high BC, the 140s really turn my crank. Although the newish 136gr Scenar could be fun to play with!
