Sigh...I have to remind myself that good things come to those who wait. Went in and ordered a new lilja #6 1:10 twist barrel, a new HS precision stock, and a new timney trigger for my old remington 700. It's going to be one heck of a gun when I'm all done. Too bad it takes so long to get the parts. This is my first custom gun too, so I'm sure it will seem like it's taking even longer...sigh. There must be a few of you out there in the same boat as me right? Maybe we can form a support group. Haha

it always takes time to get parts but its worth it in the end. Nice to see your going to build a 25-06. I currently shoot a cooper model 52 in 25-06

Sounds heavy with a no6. I would have went 6-06 with a 1-8" or 6.5 to get some higer BC bullets.

I up together 2 last year the wait for a McMillan is borderline stupid but it's better than Christmas Day to a kid when it comes.

Growing up as a kid, my dad was a big game outfitter in the 70's and 80's. I saw the 25 do thinks that many nay Sayers claim it shouldn't be able to do. It's hard to argue with results like that. He had a custom 700 built way back when, and it's simply amazing. I've drooled over it for many many years. My dad is the cliche 'man with one gun'. And considering I'd have to pry it out of his dead hands...I figured it would just be easier to build one like it. So that's the basis for my build. I've had my 700 25-06 since the early 90s, and it's done well enough. Just time to make something that'll really really really perform. Maybe one day, I'll be able to out shoot the old guy.

a6.5 06 is a different gun from a 25 06 why not get 7mm mag for more powder to go along with that bc or for that matter a 300 wby

I'm already set up with 25-06 reloading gear, and I personally think the 25-06 is an amazing round, which doesn't get nearly enough credit. It was my first and only big game rifle, I have had mine for almost 20 years. I know what it will do, and I'm comfortable with it, and it suits my needs perfectly.

This.

You could have saved time by going with a Canadian barrel. When I built my 25-06 I screwed a Gaillard tube on it. My 300 wears one from RKS.

Once I burn out my current barrel I'm going to go with a 26" heavy barrel and a nicer looking stock even though mine fits nice as is. 22" just doesn't do it any favors

So, I figure i should update this. I got my barrel in on July 1. They told me 4-6 months, and they were pretty much bang on, 4 months to the day. I also ordered a fast twist 22-250 barrel, which should be in very shortly as well. Rick said I should have the first one in 6-8 weeks, and I'm already 3 weeks in. So Hopefully, I will have it for mid next month! Then comes scopes, and load development...I'm excited.

Nice! I had them build me a custom 260ai built on their infidel action. Was quoted 8 months for the parts I wanted and ended up getting it in 7! Well worth the wait in the end for something I will never sell!

So...just out of pure curiosity...how do the aftermarket barrelled 25-06's perform for you guys?
Brag alert! ...... Barrel by Bevan King.

well, I will find out i guess! i'm very excited to get it, and I have three weeks vacation planned starting next week, so I would REALLY love it if i could play around with it before I have to go back to work...But that is kind of putting the cart before the horse.
