well after about 10 or more years i have finally been drawn for turkey. if anybody has any suggestions of good areas to check out and hints,i would sure love to hear them.

Locate them when they are roosting in the evening(I used a crow call and a slate call) and hunt them when they hit the ground in the morning.
Full camo
good quality call
try and get above them
use decoys

i would try some of the newer wmu's that opened up a few years ago. I got mine in 305 but I've heard the numbers in 400 are good this year.

You"ll need to learn to call

After many years of waiting I got drawn last year and was successful. You'll need to learn to call, I would say you have ZERO chance of success without calling them in.

Move and call until you get a gobble, move in quickly but extra quiet. Set up your henny penny decoy move back into cover and sit. DON'T MOVE Turkey's ain't smart they are just afraid of absolutely everything.

Oh I forgot.....

It is absolutely exhilarating, don't let anyone downplay what fantastic hunting this is. More fun than a set of rubber crutches.

Turkeys in the Porcupines

I ran into a big flock of turkeys down in the Porcupine Hills last fall when I was there bow hunting for deer. Never seen that many before down there.
