I live in edmonton and have done quite a bit of hunting for pheasant, spruce grouse and ruffed grouse. I'd like to expand though to more Southern species, sharp tails, huns etc. Could anyone recommend some general (specific is good too) areas to go to? I don't have a dog, so I've learned to put on the big kilometers. Do I have to go right down to Cypress hills?

If you want to hunt the southern species, Eastern Irrigation District (EID) has lots of land you can hunt - need to go register at the EID office in Brooks. Pick up a county map to compare with the EID map. Sharptails, Huns and Pheasants... and at times, lots of waterfowl as well.

There is some excellent hunting from there to the border, but it is patchy and virtually (90%+) private land. Have fun.

Thanks. I'll definately look into that. Are there any ACA sites that would be productive? Once again, I don't mind putting in alot of leg work to find them.
