to my knowledge wild pigs in Alberta are considered a pest so no license is required open season all year round. could be wrong though, but the hard part is finding permission to hunt them mostly all will be on private property
In my part of the world we have a bounty on the critters. I snare a few now and then, get 50$$ for the ears. My neigbour had 16 in his yard awhile back. Shooting these critters would be a chore without a good tree stand. They don't seem to stick around the same area very long.
I went to Sask last month and shot two Russian Boars, one was 350 pounds. It was awesome.. Its very near North Battleford and called " Wild Boar Adventures." www.redmantrophybiggamehunts.com
Its not cheap - harvested pigs are 3$ a pound - but the accomodations are free and the owner / farmer/ rancher - Kelly Readman - is a helluva nice guy and his contact # is 306-445-4234. I posted this link with a picture of the big guy a couple of weeks ago.
