Better to find a map store for almost one stop shopping. Map Town in Calgary has most of the landowner maps for all of Alberta.

The amount and variety of hunting available in Alberta is stunning.

Yeah. I think there are a couple places in Edmonton where a guy can pick up these maps too. Not as good as driving out to the areas to have look around, though. One way or another, the maps are gold!

Google Earth/Maps has pretty good coverage of the province in High-res. Air Photo Services can set you up with B&W prints of most of the province for rates better than buying B&W topo maps that were last updated in the '70's. Gotta visit them on a weekday, though.

Having been in all ten provinces and lived in six of them during my military career, I returned to Alberta when I retired out of CFB Boredom. Mind you I was born in Alberta and as soon as I arrivedback here, the first thing I did was stop at the vehicle registry to get my Alberta plates. My second choice of provinces is Saskatchewan.

Edmonton is pretty well placed for getting sorted out on just about any game you want. Bowhunter? You should be, if you are not yet. Lots of extra opportunities, in the area, for bowhunters. Strathcona County Deer tags, as well as over the counter Moose available every year.

You're probably gonna find a quad is high on the 'want' list.

I can point you at a couple spots on the map worth looking at, depending on whether you want to travel to hunt, or do the local thing.

You can buy a WIN card and apply for draws online, as a non-resident. https://www.albertarelm.com/ Download the regs there too. Might as well start building priority while you are waiting...

I did 4 years in Edmonton as ACS. Cold Lake now. Never been back.


Shop there was OK. Not enough resources, was a constant. Guys on the floor, outside the shop, were mostly OK too.

The good. You will learn to be very versatile. Remove part, make replacement part, paint part, install part, instead of handing it to someone else to do.

I worked with some great people there. Worked for some really bad ones, it flavors my view of that place. Not so much at the trade level, mostly higher.

The Griffon is a pretty decent machine to work on. It is all that was there when I was. Other than it gets treated like a flying dump truck, and is made of slightly stronger than pop-can material. Pay a LOT of attention to the info you will get on Cherry-Max rivets. You will use that! Esp. Oversizes. Learn to read the markings.

Learn how to unf**k the screws that the screwf**kers, have! :)
