Hello All.
I've been a member on another site for a while with the same screen name of Albertadiver. I've finally gotten off my butt to register here.
I come from a rural background as a kid, however for my adult life I've lived in the City. (Red Deer and the last ten years in Calgary). Coming from the farm, we've always had rifles around and I enjoy going out plinking and finally this past year I've started hunting again. As a boy I went with family, but they stopped for a number of reasons. Now I'm back in the saddle so to speak.
I've been trying to learn more about firearms in general as well as optics. Since we always had the same .243, .22, .30-06, and 12.ga at home I didn't venture into learning about other calibers and such. I recently bought a .300WM Ruger. I don't have a restricted license but might try a pistol some day.
I love anything that gets me out of the City. Whether it's going to the range, camping, hiking, backpacking, fishing, hunting, scuba diving, mountain biking, whatever. Enjoy winter camping, ice fishing, x-country skiing and snow shoeing as well. I also have my ice diving ticket which is quite the experiance. I'd say I'm a fairly experianced outdoorsman, have my first aid, rescue diver ticket, and getting better at shooting every trip to the range. Here in Alberta, I'm 40 minutes from Crown land and the mountains. I head that direction every chance I get.
I work in Construction contract admin, so if you ever need any tips related to Alberta Building Code or building science in general. PM me and I'll do whatever I can to assist.
If anyone knows me from the other site, say hi!
