Going top bump this, been looking at maybe putting one of these together for the cool factor, from what I saw on AA's website, the hand guard is glued to the barrel nut? Is the barrel nut same as a regular upper so it can be broken free and removed so a guy could change out the hand guard or would he have to order one of the uppers with a upgraded longer non hideous handguard? If Canada wasn't so scared of it's own shadow an I could use it to shoot gophers there would be no debate on picking one up and converting one of my lowers.

Also just a FYI for anyone looking to build one of these you don't need the .556 buffer or spring, the upper comes with its own drop in captured spring system.

Bumping this thread.
Since the upper is only a blowback design and only looks like an AR15, is this non-restricted.

If you can find a NR lower that can fit this upper, yes.

Uppers are not subject to classification, just make sure it meets the reqs for min length and such

It’s mates with AR

You will never find any lower that is NR that will mate with this upper

There are non restricted AR “like “ receiver sets

But they are NOT AR’s because they don’t mate with anything AR15 or AR 10 receiver patterns they are different this not AR’s

You are referring to guns that are their own design that’s why they got NR status ..

Isn’t there new AR pattern receivers on the market that are NR?

If the parts in the upper could be transfered over to another upper that takes AR15 parts, then one could build a NR version. If wolverine has access to one of these, they could likely say if this is possible or not

The barrel is too short on these Alexander Arms uppers to be NR with either Maccabee or ATRS receiver set. This has been discussed previously, clarification was gotten from RCMP SFSS

Really? Can't find that thread. There's only one other post found that mentions this rifle and it discusses non of that.

The big wig at the horsemen decided that even though it’s rimfire because it’s built on a receiver that is designed for centrefire, the rules apply for centrefire. There was a whole thread with the letter from the horsemen in the NR sets manufacturers forum. It didn’t specifically discuss this upper just rimfires in general.
