Hi all, I hope this is the right area to post this question,

I bought an Alfa Proj model 361 with the interchangeable cylinder for 22lr / 22 wmr. this gun also shipped with a new perch or pivot, the part the cylinder rotates on and swings out on. I can see no discernible difference in the one mounted on the gun, nor the one shipped loose in the box. The 22wmr cylinder came off easily, and the 22lr cylinder slipped on after loosening the mounting screw.

My question for the gunsmiths out there is (tried searching the web AND Alfa's site to no avail) short of finding someone with a mic to measure both pivots exactly, would it be conceivable that both pivot/mounts are exactly the same for the 2 different caliber cylinders? it functions smoothly, spins freely with no excessive play. I only ask as its my first revolver and I am assuming cylinder bore alignment are critical.

Thanks in advance!

The part you are describing is called the cylinder crane.

They may both be identical. What matters is, when you install the .22lr cylinder, does it lock up properly with the hammer pulled all the way back? And, if you have a tight cleaning rod, does it catch on the face of the cylinder when you gently run it down the barrel?

If the cylinder is lined up and locked up, I don't see a problem. You should, ideally use the right cylinder crane, since the one that came with the 22lr cylinder may also manage the gap between the cylinder and barrel. I would swap out the cylinder and it's crane, if the manufacturer gave you a crane, there's a reason for it. Most companies don't give away spare parts for fun.

Thanks for the info Gunzik. I just received an email from Alfa as well, essentially, they are saying the crane was fitted for that cylinder with this gun. A matched set if you will, for best performance. However, they also said theoretically both could be interchangeable. I will swap it out and have now learned something in the process :)
