Alger Arms

I have an old Alger Arms, side by side 12 gauge, double hammers, double triggers shotgun that was passed down from my Grandfather to me. If anyone here can lead me to a site where i can get some info. on the company and shotgun I would appreciate it. I'm not concerned about the value (it has been well used) since it is one of my best memories of Grampa, but would like to find out the year and any other information that I can.

Check on the barrel flats and water table of the receiver for proof marks and or maker marks. Pic's wouldn't hurt either.
