Dude i dont care if you believe it or not. It comes for a creditable source

I'm curious if the roles were reversed way back in the day what you fellow CGNer's would say ... meaning all the european settlers show up and are black or brown and the natives here were all white ... how would you feel many MANY yrs later after having your land raped and pillaged? I understand some nature-boys grandpops were the ones who got taken advantage of back then so why gripe and fight and whine now is what most think or feel ... however, I also see a people torn from their traditional ways back in the day with no reason other than the early settlers thought their ways were the right way to live/exist. I'm torn as to how to feel about native land claim agreements as I'm 1/2 native ... eskimo mind you ... and 1/2 white ... father's an immigrant actually ... SCOTTISH ...Inuit(eskimo for dummies) fought since the 70's to get our own land/territory and won that deal back in '99 ... but really I'm thinking the southern gov't just gave in as they were tired of taking care of us in many ways ... and well they didn't want all of us natives moving south ... you've got enough already! HAHAHA. I'm really not in the know on this landclaim dealio this thread is about, but felt I'd ask those questions to see what others think or feel about them.

I've thought about that Otokiak. I can tell you one thing. I sure as hell wouldn't act like the idiots I described in my other post in this thread. (not calling all native americans idiots, I am however calling the native americans in my other post idiots)
If I took a car from you, by legal means at the time, improved it, made that car into something someone wanted to buy, and all the while you just sat back, until eventually you saw that I was making money from it and decided you should have it back, should I give it to you? At the time, I acquired it legally.
Was the law back then right? I'm not an expert so I don't know. I do know that there was a lot of barter and trade between the 'natives' and the 'great white mother' at the time, for good and bad on both sides. It's a thing called war. how far back should we trace that? Should Britain waltz into DC and claim the entire continent back? how about France and Louisiana? Then let the first-nations populations deal with them instead of us.
I'll be totally honest, I don't see how any 'group' has any right to land at all, other than purchasing for fair market value as real estate. I don't see why one group should get special tax considerations, nor special allowances. I don't really buy the idea that 'my ancestors were here first so we're entitled'.
I'm not saying either extreme is right, I think that any time in the last, oh, 200 years, there could have been a discussion about it.
BTW. I was at Ipperwash the day it was 'reclaimed'. My tent was slashed and I had to RUN, leaving a bunch of gear behind. I was 14. It's wrong to take something by force then whine when force is applied back.
I dont really care about what colour anyone is. Nor do I care about who thinks they have rights to what land. Fact is, we are tax paying citizens who have equal rights to all crown land, regardless of who was here first.
If the gov gives our land to one specific group, mabye they should be paying land tax on the 36 million acres...course they wont, because they want a handout for free.
