I am spending about half of my time in a jurisdiction that has a decent crack at legalizing carrying. A cop buddy from LA (not L.A.) recommended this brand of holsters for IWB carry but not OWB carry. So, I wanted to ask those of you who spend time in areas that respect the basic human right to self defence, whether you've had any experience with those. Specifically interested in speed of draw, comfort, concealment and longevity. Most likely gonna run a G43 in it. I appreciate any input you guys might have.

Yeah dude...ask on a US forum, those guys live what they say.

I've not heard of too many using a g34 as a carry gun, but that's up to you

Just get one of these. I carry my Glock 19 in it every day since I can easily conceal it in just a T-shirt.

I've spent hundreds on holsters and in the end this is the only one I use now.

Edit: I should add that I AIWB. If you don't mind a gun pointing at your man parts/femoral artery then it is easily the best way to carry.

But to answer your question, the alien gear holsters are made well but would be insanely bulky for a G43.

Glock 43 (compact/single stack 9mm) ;)

I agree you'll find more advice on a US forum...but some guys do use concealment holsters in IDPA so can still give an informed opinion if they happen to have one.
I use a Zero Concealment with a Sig Scorpion Carry 1911, but its basically your standard pancake style and doesn't answer the OP's question.

Lucky you!
As Onagoth said, I won't use a G34 either especially in IWB holster.
Honestly, all newer QUALITY IWB holsters are pretty much the same. Now that they have the wide footprint inside pancake style like the Alien or the Travis Haley models, it basically covers up the printing a holster can make through clothing.
Remember, you are wearing hard plastic inside your pants, a long barrel will poke and you will be sitting a bit awkwardly to avoid that "clonk" sound when your gun hits the chair first. Try a G19 instead.

Ease of draw depends on your waistline. If you are lean and have no love handles, then draw is only slightly more difficult than an OWB rig. If you overhang, finding your grip in an emergency will be more difficult.

Comfort..no chance vs. OWB. A leather IWB may be more comfortable but draw and reholstering will be slower due to the friction factor. But leather, esp where you are, will hold moisture. If you do choose IWB, get pants 1-2 sizes bigger. Squeezing a full size gun in an IWB holster with your regular pants will not enhance comfort.

Concealment is a factor of the length and angle of the gun grip. That said, IWB beats OWB everytime for CCW. A lot of people who wear IWB, do the Appendix carry which prints the least. Problem is the gun is aimed at your nuts, you can only carry a small gun (or you can't sit down) and you don't want to hug people as they will definitely feel your bulge!

It's plastic (Kydex). It will outlive you!

This is just common sense advice. What do I know about CCW??;)

Sorry! Just noticed the 34 and 43 switcheroo! My bad! Good call then! Proceed!

Whaaat is that!? How is it secured?

I shot idpa foryesrs, and no...It doesn't qualify someone to give an opinion on concealed carry. ...

I don't know why I read g34 in the op....the single stack g43 would be different

He's asking specific questions about a specific holster.
Out his 4 criteria ..."Specifically interested in speed of draw, comfort, concealment and longevity"...I could certainly answer 3 of them regarding the Zero Concealment I use.
So, yes it does qualify me (and others) to have an opinion.

Really? How many times have you sat in a car for 2 hours with that holster/gun on? How many times have you worn it for 12 hours a day? How many times you actually taken a look to make sure you're not imprinting to be sure that some uptight citizen doesn't see it?

Honestly, anyone who thinks that they shoot idpa and therefore know anything about carrying a gun daily is out to lunch. You might be able to commeat on draw speed and durability but anything else you're out to lunch on....or at least no more qualified than any one else....I bet you think you're pretty good in a firefight as well

Anyways. ..feel free to continue to provide your expert opinion

Don't want to hijack this thread.
If you'd like my OPINION of the ZC holster..please start a new thread.

LOL...seriously, you need to relax and quit being such a drama queen.

I never said ANY of that, nor did I suggest I was more qualified than anyone else...quite the contrary actually. I said plenty of guys on here could have an INFORMED OPINION on a particular piece of gear, that's it.
Is it safe to assume then that you are an "expert" in every subject you have ever posted on ? :jerkit:

The only one "out to lunch"...is you.

The cord goes around your belt and you stick it down the front of your pants. I had some serious concerns at first but it's been a couple months and I love it!

It's also better for things you don't notice if you aren't carry concealed much, like using a public urinal. Bigger holsters, especially OWB, will sag you pants and belt and its kind of a weird struggle to hold up your pants and piss.

If the gun is hanging down the front of your pants via a cord, won't you be doing the dunkin' donuts when you take a piss or else piss all over the gun?

Thanks for the tips guys. I will most likely hit up a Yank forum because over here, the current situation is like back home.. Basically a handful of well-connected individuals can carry and that's it, but there has been some pressure due to the escalating street crime and the fact that the "el-CFO" listens to the law-abiding gun owners from time to time. I figured I'd come across a few snowbirds or foreign visitors in these parts and there's no place like home.

On a side-note, my original plan was to go with a Shield since I like Glocks and M&P's about the same and they are cheaper in North America, but here in Chile, they worship the ground that the Yanks walk on, so the Glock actually costs $100 cheaper, plus the accessories come cheaper. I'm a trigger whore and I may go through a bunch of holsters, too.. Then there are mags.. Possibly the sights if I wanna play some IDPA with it...

I just shift it further to the left, into a sort of cross draw position and it stays.

I conceal carry on a daily basis. I have tried MANY different holsters (both IWB and OWB). I personally wear the crossbreed super tuck and have found it to be the absolute most comfortable holster out of the dozen or so I have tried. The kydex on mine has developed a small crack and so I was looking for a similar style to get while I send my crossbreed back for repair. I have been looking at Alien Gear holsters but unfortunately they will not ship to Canada. They are very similar in shape and size to a crossbreed. I find the concealability (of that style) is awesome with even just a t-shirt, almost zero printing. I carry just forward of the 3 o'clock and it is very comfortable. Alien gear also has a money back guarantee. The only thing I am skeptical about is the wet suit style fabric. I could see it getting quite smelly after a while.
