A couple of standbys are 50 grains of Varget and what ever 165 grain bullet I want in the 30-06, and 80 grains of H1000 and a 180 NBT or Accu-bond in the .300 Win. If a rifle wont shoot those you may as well find out whats wrong with it.
You've really identified some classic loads here. The .30-06 load with Varget is my own standby, as well -- and it works great in my Garand, too.
My classic .300 Winchester load is similar, but instead of H1000, I use 73 grains of IMR 4831.
I agree that if those loads don't work, then something is probably wrong with your rifle, scope or technique.
