All hail the new KING! Of muzzle brakes at least.

ha:

No kidding, it was obvious in the second video that the blast was bad!...explanation of the profanity was not required.

I bought a real cheap brake as it would have likely served my need until I figure out how much blast I want to deal with...I hate muzzle blast! I also hate crush washers, so after packaging up my cheapie to go back, cause it wobbled like a drunk going on the muzzle, I went looking for an alternate way of timing a brake. I found a cool shim kit, and added a Surefire ProComp because it still fits with my plan of going cheap till I figure out what I really want.

The best part? He has seen brakes before, and seen dust kicked up, but he admitted he had not the slightest clue of what to expect when the round was touched off. And the conversation after was 'why didn't you warn me on what to expect'... I said well gee, if I did that, it would have wrecked the experience for you. That and the fact you wouldn't have got the visual blast of gas on the recording.

I am lucky to have brave if naive friends....'trust me' ha ha ha ha

I have one of Chads brakes on my 6.5x47 i really like it cuts recoil well. Havent heard anyone complain at the PRS matches.

Hey, now, I did want to test a couple more, but I did not get my lottery winnings yet. Or at all LOL!!!
Ok, after reading your summary I admit I was quick outta the gate with my comment. I watched a YouTube review of 10 brakes and I went with the Precision Armament M4-72. (Thru CTCS, link up top) Getting it back from S&J Hardware (CGN Sponsor too) threaded and indexed tomorrow. Cheers guy.

I agree, I would look for a combination of some recoil reduction but without the punch in the face.

Concussion/blast is a lot more disruptive to the shooter than many want to believe or realize.

If you ever have the opportunity to shoot a precision rifle suppressed, it will open your eyes.

That's one of the main reasons why I got rid of the APA Gen 2 Lil B' brake. Very effective at mitigating recoil, but the obnoxiousness of the brake got old real fast.

Want to shout out a thanks to “Gotjuice” for that excellent review! Love reading real world reports for my fellow cdn shooters!
I do not personally own the Cadex brake, but a shooting buddy has a Cadex rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor, and comparing the Cadex to my Heathen brake on my Creedmoor builds, the recoil did not seem to be much different, both are similar and both rifles weigh close to the same.
The Heathen is definitely quieter though, and was way less concussion blast back into the shooter. I will take that advantage all day long over similar recoil reducing brakes. Huge plus for me, especially when I spend all day at the range, and don’t want to be too mentally fatigued and beat up by the end of a day.
I also love that the Heathen is self timing, installs in seconds by hand, and never used a tool on one. Super easy to clean, and clean barrels, when you can spin them on and off easy too.
Is the Cadex self timing as well? Is it as user friendly for instal and removal?
Curious to hear if other Heathen owners have directly compared it to any other brakes?

All good! I would like to do a comprehensive test for sure. When it warms up I will possibly sit down at a computer and pen a letter to invite a few for a test :)

All it takes is time and postage. The worst a mfgr can say is no. I am having a great time shooting the gear I have, and sharing it with other like minded people is a great deal of fun.

If I could take a 419 brake and give it a couple threaded ports on the top like the christensen brake that might be my perfection. I like to be able to adjust the rise by blocking the ports.
