All-New: Type 81M

Well, there you go - it seems that there is a solution to just about any problem!

The more I look at it, the more impressed I become with the elegance of that design. There is excellent strength combined with an economy of installation effort. It is smart design to use an easily-inserted Cross-Piece, with tensioning screws mounted in the Rear Plate to impinge against the back of the Receiver. A very quick and simple install with nothing seemingly to go awry.

I have shot underfolders and wire stocks. I think your assessment is coming from mostly a black gun/military guy. The underfolder is not exactly for bench rest shooting and trying to hit MOA.

I am not sure if you have shot the side folder (the most popular type 81) but it is not better, even worse since the LOP only works if you have very short arms.

As to bruised cheek bones, yes of course if you are leaning your face against metal, what do you expect? It can easily be padded. There are various solutions to this.

Easiest solution is to run the commie sling in such a way that when you shoulder the rifle the sling rides between your cheek and stock.

Quoting myself here, but I had another idea.

Wear a shemagh, between your wire stock and cheek, for style points!!

Got mine today, took it apart. Solid. Best type 81 so far. Best LOP (for me at least). The underfolder is tilting slightly down and the sight picture is perfect as TI mentioned. The AK pictured is straight, that's why.

For the cheekbone people, I tried the cheek rest from my SR since I don't use it (Sigmaco-ed AR end) and it fits perfectly! Very nice sight pictures and comfy rest for the cheekbone softies. I am sure there are many other solutions.

Ya..ex military guy complaining about bruises etc..how uncomfortable the chinese AK knock off is.. you don't know me either son..

Truth is that we can know very little about what each of us have had for personal experience.

The other day I had a female officer criticize me, and others on my team for adopting micro dots on our pistols - insisting that she doesn’t need one because she can shoot (she’s also 20 pounds over weight). I’ve also had criticism directed towards me for carrying four tourniquets, and double, sometimes triple the ammunition of my coworkers.

My response to these people is the same as yours - you don’t know what experiences that I’ve had to adopt the equipment I use.

That said some of Bartok5’s experience is public, and quite legendary.

I’m rambling…

I would have thought twice about the underfolder knowing that Bartok5 dislikes it so much. Then again, i really want it, so maybe I’ll have to learn its cons the hard way.

But like I tell new boots - you’ll never live long enough to learn everything the hard way, so learn from your veterans.

I'd go out on a limb and say the value of housing is higher than the value of adding to cart. I'd also wager that you exert substantially more effort and take on more risk through your renovations than he does when he buys.

Sure, props to him for finding a way to make money. People aren't necessarily mad that he is making money, they are upset that 1) his actions are preventing others from purchasing a product at a fair price and 2) the 1300 dollar markup is not representative of the value of adding an item to your cart

Well the same mentality can be used in every situation. just because he bought 10 and ten other people didn't get to buy one, ten or 50 means nothing there are always people who will want one. if there are 5 scalpers buying 10 each. there are hundreds of people who will want one next week and will not get one, it's not the scalpers fault. there is always a demand higher then supply. so don't buy two loves of bread next time don't buy 2 tall boys because you are shorting someone else. as for not adding any value i argue otherwise. he is adding more value by creating an artificial shortage people will buy more and faster. next time everyone who missed this shipment will buy faster and more willing to buy because they think so; 1. the scalpers will buy everything and i better get mine fast. 2. even if i buy and don't like i can sell for twice the price because i seen one for twice the price, so I'm buying. Economics 101

I posted already above.

I have never held an AK underfolder but it appears as if they are very different. You will see when you get yours. The AK underfolder is straight and short, the type 81 is longer and tilting down. Cheek pad if you are still concerned, problem solved.

I had discussions with Bartok5 on here before. Often he knows what he is talking about, often enough he doesn't.

Take notice.. Next shipment T.I, 2 gun limit. This would allow more Gunnutz to get them rather than some sketchy Ticketmaster reseller type guy.
