All-New: Type 81M

Well, no. There are military surplus rifles, and then there are Norinco shleps. They are not the same, not by a long shot. I'm not saying these 81's are the latter, I'm just saying we've seen the latter before.

No 81 that's been imported by TI is surplus

what are we doing about #holegate with the random giant hole in the back of the underfolders who's existence TI did not disclose and which all the pictures conveniently hid

news flash "Holegate" lol. i thought you were talking about something new but in fact you were 5 years too late.

I would expect a bit of wobble, it will be interesting to hear from people that have shot with different underfolders and can compare based on past experience.... I'm not on facebook so will have to wait for youtube..... :)

So the sidefolder is still superior to the underfolder

I was more wondering how the underfolder compares to other under folders as far as the construction of the arms and the mecanism.... I watched buddy's Youtube video last night and it looks like it's pretty solid for the most part but he doesn't spend much time talking about it or showing the way it fits him when shouldered.

The angle does look like there will be no issue as far as having to mash your cheek into the stock to get a sight picture which is good.

As to your question, I would prefer a rock solid side folder over a collapsible wire stock or under folder.

In terms of this new T81 offering, they added some features that people wanted and removed some that people didn't want, but then strayed away from the proven and popular side folder design (that had been used already in multiple runs of the Type 81) for the less practical and less functional under folder. Missed opportunity to create basically the perfect Type 81 (in my eyes).

Well a substantial amount of the sidefolders were bent. I'd say not having a chance of receiving a crooked rifle is a major improvement, the rifles coming off the LMG line are made better without question.

It’s not like TI is trying new things. The side folder is largely used by Chinese Army 30-40 years ago. The under folder is from Type 56-1 which was standard issue rifle also 40-50 years ago. They just bringing different styles so they can sell them even u already have a T81 at home. T81 under folder was first designed back in the 90s to export to US(as T81S-2).

Wow as if now people are whining about a hole in the rear of the trunion on the folding stock models LMAO my side folder has that hole and I have legit used it to clean the rifle chamber to muzzle. Really isn't a big deal.

Now, if I could at least get an update on my Type 81M fixed stock order (281XX) since I placed it 2 days ago...

The type 56-1 was the last Chinese military rifle with an under folding stock. The type 56-2 introduced the side folding stock, and the same design was used on the type 81-1 and QBZ-56C

I really love all this information but would somebody to give me the short answer as to whether or not they think will be able to outfit the under folding stock model with the Fab defense side folder that someone posted a few pages before?
