All of Manitoba is falling into a lockdown.. UPDATE

Just as an FYI to everyone, the whole province is going into a darn lockdown here... So what that means for Wolverine.

- Yes we will be open!
- Our showroom is still in the air right now, working out the details.
- Orders online and over the phone will continue as normal, shipping should not be impeded.

We are working out the finer details as to what we are mandated to do during this time to remain open and able to operate. This MAY result in a slower communication with emails, it may result in faster if we do split shift who knows... This is what we are trying to figure out right now.

Bare with us, while we figure out this whole rig-a-ma-roll.....

UPDATE.

So what does the Manitoba Lock down mean for Wolverine and you!?

Well here are some fun facts as to how Wolverine Supplies will be operating for the next few weeks while the Manitoba Health Authority imposes these restrictions on us.

- Yes! We are open still!!! 8-5pm Showroom Hours.

- Maximum 3x customers in the store at a time, I would recommend one person come in to the shop to purchase what you need, or get a list from your family and friends and get it all at once!

- After 5pm curb side pick up will be available, or if you need something there can be exceptions made by appointment only until 9pm!

- We are going to have a smaller staff on hand, so please bare with us during the next few weeks, we have split our staff into shifts, and also some are working from home to allow us to remain open to you, the consumer!

- It is mandatory to wear as mask as per the MHA, and we also ask that you squirt a little of that good ol' sanitizer on your hand before coming in, ours doesn't stick to bad I promise..

- Other than that, if your sick stay home... that isnt a new rule, that was around long before all of this "COVID" jazz... that and don't cough in peoples faces that's not new either.

So come on in, be happy and healthy, we the people will get through this gang! See you soon.

Premier Brian Pallister and Dr. Brent Roussin, Manitoba’s chief provincial public health officer, announced that as of 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, the province of Manitoba will move to the Critical level (red) on the #RestartMB Pandemic Response System to halt COVID-19 transmission and protect Manitoba’s most vulnerable citizens.

“We are at a critical point in our fight against COVID-19, and we must do everything we can to protect our most vulnerable Manitobans and ensure our health-care system is there for Manitobans, when they need it,” said Pallister. “This is a team effort, and we all have a role to play in protecting ourselves, our loved ones and our community. By taking these measures seriously, we are going to save lives.”

The new Critical (red) level restrictions will be in effect provincewide and include:
• Social contacts reduced to your household only. Social gatherings are not permitted.
• Travel to and from northern Manitoba is restricted and non-essential travel is discouraged.
• Retail businesses listed as critical services, such as grocery stores and pharmacies, can remain open at 25 per cent capacity.
• Retail businesses not on the list are able to provide e-service, curbside pickup or delivery services.
• All personal service businesses, including hair salons, barbers and sites offering manicures, pedicures and other esthetic services, must close.
• Gyms and fitness centres must close.
• Religious and cultural gatherings must close or be provided virtually only.
• Restaurants must close to the public and may be open for delivery, drive-thru or takeout only.
• All recreational activities, sports facilities, casinos, museums, galleries, libraries, movie theatres and concert halls must close.

“We have taken steps in individual regions, but it’s time to take a more drastic approach to halt the rising case number and wide-spread community transmission of this deadly virus,” said Roussin. “I cannot stress enough to all Manitobans – now is the time to stay home and reduce your close contacts.”

In addition, no changes will be made to child-care services or to kindergarten to Grade 12 education delivery at this time. Roussin noted the province has not seen widespread transmission among children, students and staff.

There are a number of things Manitobans can do themselves to reduce the spread that go beyond the restrictions put in place, Roussin added. These include:
• Reduce the number of shoppers from your household to the lowest possible number. Send only one person to shop.
• Work from home if at all possible.
• Reduce travel unless absolutely essential.
• Remember all those you have come in contact with recently.

As these restrictions go into place and in all regions, Manitobans are reminded that compliance and enforcement issues can be reported by visiting and completing the reporting form at www.manitoba.ca/COVID19, or by calling 204-945-3744 or 1-866-626-4862 (toll-free) and pressing option three on the call menu.

Fines for breaching or failing to comply with public health or emergency orders have recently been increased to $1,296 for individuals and $5,000 for corporations.

Manitobans are still strongly encouraged to focus on these fundamentals to help stop the spread of COVID-19:
• Stay home if you are sick or when any member of your family is sick.
• Reduce your contacts to your household only and avoid closed-in or crowded spaces.
• Wash/sanitize your hands, cover your cough and physically distance when you must be with people outside your household.
• If you cannot physically distance, you should wear a mask to help reduce your risk.
• Get a flu shot.

Unless recommended by public health officials, only individuals experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should go for testing. Individuals with symptoms are asked to seek testing as soon as possible once symptoms are present. Employers are asked to only send employees for testing if they have symptoms or if testing has been recommended by public health officials.

Public health officials are advising Manitobans that if you are symptomatic, or if someone in your household is symptomatic, your entire household needs to self-isolate pending COVID-19 test results. The symptomatic individual needs to stay in their own room and, if possible, use their own bathroom and not use common areas. This does not apply to asymptomatic household members if they are an essential worker required to wear PPE while at work such as health-care workers or first responders.

For information on self-isolation, visit www.gov.mb.ca/covid19/updates/resources.html#collapse2.

The online assessment tool can be found at https://sharedhealthmb.ca/covid19/screening-tool/and COVID-19 symptoms can be found at www.gov.mb.ca/covid19/updates/about.html#collapse4.

Just be aware that when these lockdowns come the local shipping companies and Canada Post have to adhere to the lockdown rules: shipments will be delayed. I know this because I know someone who works for Canpar and have a relative that works for Canada Post.

Not that it super matters, but yea, BC is in quasi lockdown with a clock of two weeks, but I suspect it will continue to be extended well into the new year.

Got to love giving up your rights. Here's to having non in the not so distant future.

Give me a break. If I go out and get covid I might be fine, but my immunocompromised roommate will likely die from it. Tons of people have already died from it and more and more people are contacting it every day, I can't believe how selfish and ignorant people are in response to this whole thing, that people's safety and well-being is surpassed by your need to go get a haircut or whatever. Don't get me wrong lockdown sucks, but it beats getting myself or somebody I care about sick.

So what did you do during literally every other flu season up to this point. Did you call us selfish for getting haircuts then. If your friends or family are high risk, they and their acquaintances (read, you, not me) need to take steps to keep themselves as safe as possible. How about you stop interacting with us if you actually care about their health. Get your groceries delivered, stop working (like you and people like you are forcing us to do) and stop leaving your home. That way the rest of us who realize this is just as dangerous as the flu to high risk people can still live our lives, not for our own convenience but so the country isnt absolutely destroyed economically.

I'll choose freedom over "safety" anyday.

Do you drive drunk or without a seatbelt? I mean, how dare the government tell you how to operate your own vehicle! You should be allowed to drive under the influence if you want, you paid for the car, who are they to tell you how to drive it!? What's next, no pointing loaded guns at people?

So by your definition, selfishness is wanting everyone to be free to make their own choices based on their own personal circumstances and risk assessment, but compassion and selflessness require everyone to conform to a standard of behaviour that keeps you and yours safe, regardless of the impact on others...got it.

Tell your immunocompromised roommate to stay home, as should you. Business owners need to feed their families and generate income...... Oh and Im compromised as well... w/ asthma and might keel over from covid as well but Im not selfish enough to thing everyone elses lives have to stop because of me.

Lol...logic is not your strong suit if you really think there is a parallel here.

There's over 200k people dead in the US from it alone, I'm sorry but that's not anything like the flu, I worked in a hospital for five years and still maintain contact with some of my former co-workers who have had to deal directly with covid patients. I find it concerning how dismissive were being of the facts here, especially in the gun owner community where we constantly have to show the liberal anti gunners the facts about gun crime/violence to try and prove that gun control isn't a good idea, this disregard of evidence from professionals just reminds me so much of that liberal mindset. I also get my flu shot during each flu season, there is not a vaccine yet for covid. My friends and family are taking precautions also, my roommate is working from home, since he's a nurse and would be very likely to contract it if he was still working at the hospital, there's only so much that can be done when we're living under the same roof unfortunately. I also take lots of precautions, I thankfully work at a job site with very few people, and that job site has temperature checks, I also go out very rarely and just for essentials like food, when I get home with groceries I sanitize everything and change into new clothes after taking a shower.

Here’s a crazy idea, wash your ####ing hands. People are disgusting. Eating with their hands out in public, picking their noses, rubbing their eyes.. all #### I see people doing even when we’re nearly a year into the pandemic. There’s even youtube videos on how to properly wash your hands. Grown adults not having a clue how to keep up with basic hygiene. Here are some disturbing numbers about how often people washed their hands comparing pre and during pandemic. https://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/canadian-survey-shows-handwashing-habits-have-significantly-changed-since-covid-19-813135590.html

The most common response to the question “prior to the pandemic how many times per day do you wash your hands?” was 3-4... yes, 3-4. Going to the washroom, before eating, after blowing your nose, riding transit, visiting any public place, basically anytime you get home: all good reasons to wash your hands. Yet we have grown adults needing a ####ing global pandemic to learn how to properly clean themselves. Disgusting idiots.

So yeah, step it up with your damn hygiene and there’s no reason to shut down the economy and hurt businesses. If only high-risk immune compromised people stayed home and got government support, we wouldn't be spending billions to give handouts to people perfectly capable of going out and contributing to the economy.

Last time I posted a similar comment it wasnt popular opinion, but enough is enough. Besides, Trump lost.. shouldn’t covid be disappearing shortly? The virus did its job, time to move on.

Coronavirus is still a thing? I thought it ended after the US elections. Oh well better start the next wave of lockdowns to destroy the remaining businesses, just in time to ruin Christmas.
