Same thing with Covid, and how the lockdowns will draw out the deaths, but they won't change the number of them.


For a given population, there will be x number of people that are susceptible to Covid19, those that will be hit hard by it and those that will die. The virus and the population makeup (ie. the number of people in the population that will die) is fixed. You can't change it significantly, as there are NO measures that completely eliminate the spread. All we are doing is dragging it out.


The original idea of the lockdowns was to keep the hospitals (already $hitty) from being overwhelmed. In the meantime our spineless governments and Nazi-like health officials have done absolutely SFA to significantly increase our hospitals capacity to respond to the influx of patients once the 'temporary measure' lockdown was lifted.


Flatten the curve = draw it out.

The lockdowns will have minimal effect on the number of deaths from Covid. The people that are going to die are going to die all at once, or one at a time (but they're still going to succumb to Covid, whether it's a day from now or 9 months from now.


To save people who can't be saved, we are destroying our economy and system. 'Wreck it to rule it' in the sense that these scumbag leftists can't "Build back better" until they destroy everything first.

Yes, flatten the curve, that's the idea. To say the number of deaths is fixed isn't accurate. Once the numbers get too high, your 'ball' snowballs as more health care workers get sick. Now we've got more Covid patients, and fewer and fewer staff. That's a recipe for disaster.

Also, the more virus circulates through society (even younger people who might fair ok) the greater the chance it reaches vulnerable populations. Just letting it rip to achieve herd immunity isn't an option...vastly more deaths...

We will however have a vaccine that will allow some semblance of normalcy, one day. And you will be a lonely crazy old nut bar, blabbing on about the next big conspiracy. You want to talk about 'sad' or 'living in fear' or all the other things you claim we are? You need to get out more, go for a walk, enjoy life it's too short for your nonsense.

Seriously, get a hobby...other than guns.

So all you are hoping for is "some semblance of normalcy, one day" sounds like a great plan you have for this huge scam. IMO
 
Imagine having the government lie to you about a mass shooting a few months, ban your legally purchased property, waste hundreds of millions of dollars to enrich themselves. And then after that, claim they are honest, and protecting you from the virus. Some of you guys have legit Stockholm syndrome when it comes to the government.

I'm gonna have to fact check you on that number, the death rate in manitoba is actually a whopping 1.28% however if you're under the age of 50 that number moves to a terrifying 0.0117 and I can only imagine what it would look like if we let everyone have their freedoms and take responsibility for their own actions.....

Hospitals haven't been overwhelmed/run out of vents YET. When they have to triage and make difficult decisions like no vents for diabetics or overweight (for example), then the otherwise preventable deaths spike. Honestly, for a site full of people that fall over themselves to honour vets and military service, everyone sure seems quick to find any old crackpot excuse to avoid making a relatively minor personal sacrifice from their couch, against something killing our most vulnerable at a rate faster than wars past. I bet the soldiers deployed to old age homes to help earlier on in this crisis would have a pretty strong opinion about the conspiracy theories and distrust of science exemplified by multiple posters. Something to maybe think about on 11/11.
