I'm looking at a good deal on an EAA/Tanfoglio Witness in 10mm. Steel frame...

Does anybody have experience with this gun? Will it hold up to full-house magnum level loads?

The gun I really want is a Sig P-220 in 10mm, but the exact configuration I want is rare. Would I be dumb to 'settle' [until what I really want appears] or would the Tanfoglio be a decent substitute?

TIA for any advice...

I've heard mixed reviews wrt to some older guns, but that the quality of the current models is ok.

I'd be tempted to hold out for the sig but quite possible the one you are looking for is not being made any more. Sig introduced a few different variants at the beginning (like a two tone DA/SA) but have now seemed to settled on SAOs like a full stainless with target sights, and a Nitron coated model with night sights.

Edit. Looks like none are listed on the web sight except a wacko camo model so maybe the other Sigs are limited runs or Lipsey supplied only.

The Tanfoglio will do you well. If you want a safe Queen buy something else. If you want a gun to go shoot and enjoy get the Tamfoglio. The finish on my blued 9MM/40cal is worn but the gun goes bang every time and is as accurate as I can shoot. You won;t be disappointed. The grip is better than the CZ or Sig IMHO, perhaps the best I have ever encountered.

Yeah....I did it...

I've been working lots of overtime so I feel rich...I ordered the Witness from IrunGuns USA...just over US$500. plus some extra mags [sure hope they fit] and I'm about to order a beefed up guide rod and spring set for the 10mm gun that should allow me to shoot full-house loads at least occasionally [got Blue Dot!]. And if I break it.... Well, it's not a Sig that cost me 2.5X as much, so I won't cry about it. The Wonder Finish problem referenced, as well as anything I could find about it online, appears to have been relevant several years ago but there's nothing current on the subject, so I feel confident.

I'll post my experiences in the fullness of time...the gun probably won't be here for several weeks, depending on when the IRG import shipment window closed [ I ordered on the 10...supposedly their window closes on the 15th of the month. We'll see...]
