Sometimes I come across a really cherry pre'64 Win '94 that I kinda feel the same way about, too...

Snapped Ejector Problem With Round FULLY in Chamber

My earlier comment or "broken ejector with a M-94" can occur when the single round is fully inserted into the chamber and then the bolt is leveredforward with the ejector being forced at whatever speed the lever is worked at OVER the rim of the chambered RIMMED round.

I dont recommend trying it out to see IF that is the case.

However I will research it further to see if a few local gunsmiths agree or not. Essentially the M-94 is a "bulletproof design" not prone to any failures in my experience EXCEPT one late evening years ago when I watched a student assisited by another instructor in a Hunter Safety Course SNAP the ejector on a M-94 by chambering a round fully in the chamber and then levering the bolt forward rapidly. "Twangggg".

The 30-30 round dropped into the opem action will chamber much in the same manner as it does when the lifter brings it up from the magazine but
inserted FULLY into the chemaber means that the cartridge rim cant ease into the ejector hook but that the epector hook has to ride up and over the rime to engage it. IT may flex; it may not based on the one example I witnessed.

As before, I will "double check" with some gunsmiths to see if this was a "once in a lifetime experience" or something best "not to do" in single loading terms of the M-94

I had a chance to try out popcan's 94 this week, and it's a nice little unit. Not loose and rattley (is that a word?) like a lot of used 94's I've seen in gunshops. It's older and very well cared for. It bumped up my opinion of the winchester a few notches.

popcan - It should be interesting to see how the new hornady lever bullets perform in it. They add a fair bit of muzzle energy and velocity if the marketing hype is at all accurate. Should make for a nice little bush gun for "targets of opportunity". ;)
