All these M305s and M-14s but nowhere for a guy to get a walnut stock in canada...

Has anyone ever tried buying a stock from CMP? They have wooden stocks for $35 with metal finishings, or so they say on some of the forums on google. It sounds worth it to take a chance, I guess they are hit and miss with the quality of the wood and finish. Just throwing it out there to see what you guys think.

Have to be US citizen, US address I believe.

Dang it! Been wanting a Boyds Pepper Laminate for mine...recently saw a very high price on the EE, who said it was now "discontinued". So I checked Boyds site, and sure enough no M1A laminate stocks at all from them!!

Anyone know of another stock maker who does M1a / M-14 laminate stocks?!

+1 on this, can't find anything in laminate, i would love a boyds in the blue/silver laminate they have

Everytime I look for stocks on boyds they're either out of stock or priced over $100. Do they ever stock unfinished stocks? I want to get out of this plastic Norc stock so bad.

Mine was unfinished. They do seem to go on sale every now and again.....maybe try and see if they're aware of the new $500 small part exemption?

I think, but don't quote me on this, they (US retailer/exporter) have to pay extra to be able to raise their export limit to the 500.00 level. A converstion on this subject with Brownells left me with that understanding....

"...and there..." And where? There, their, they're.
"...you could order a Boyds walnut...against the law to..." Not for an M14 you can't. King Obama's gang didn't change the restricted for export list. Still illegal to export any M14 parts. You can export M1A parts though.
M1A stocks appear at gun show occasionally. Not high end walnut though.
"...buying a stock from CMP..." Like Remember says, U.S. citizens only, to buy anything from the CMP.

the Boyds stock is designed for an M1A says right on there website that they work with the norinco models but may require fitting, it is however, labeled as a M1A stock.

You can import some minor m1a part but need to be under 100 $. I just received a set of gaz cylindet shim, sei tos and springfield flash hider from brownels.
Also the stock is not a restricted item neithet anything since armtac import m1a receivers and stuff plus you can get jae-100 stock from wolverine it's just you cant fet it buy yourself.
My tips is :
Try with armtac and any other rerailer that import firearm part and complet firearm
Or
Order your usgi stock from usa and ship it to a us drop mailbox systeme and go recover it. Or find a us friend or familly to ship it back to you as a gift.

I found mine in a garbage parts bin in a surplus guns store, took it home, stripped the happy camo paint job off it with circa sanded it and put tung oil on it. Cost me $45 for the stock.

I called Brownels and they told me that it is still $ 100.0 and nothing has changed yet as far as they have been told by the government dept that over see's there export orders .

I may be coming but it's not in effect , just call them , I had to break down my order into 3 separate orders under $ 100.00.

Treeline just put a couple stocks up for sale. There's one in the special grade section and it can ship to canada. There's also one in the collector section but its expensive.

I have one that was refinished by Randy at Treeline and man it is awesome! He does a great job.

personally, i don't like the stocks with the cut out for the selector. makes it look like somethings missing (well, which it is...)

apparently the increase from $100 to $500 is only for Canadian government agencies...for the rest of us civilian folk, it's still $100 :(
