Looks like 'cub's post on his all weather 358 has pretty much run the course.....:)..just a bit off topic to say the least..:)
Here's my all weather 280 AI.
Barrel by Shilen, install by me, late 70's action, Rifle Basix trigger, Nitron Blackened by Arma-Coat, McMillan Edge MR stock, 3.5-10X Leupy....7 lbs 2 ounces.
Start over.....Let the trashing begin....:)

I put this one together 4 years ago.

Just had the blackening done and mounted a different scope.

We like the nitron blackening. Similar to liquid nitriding near as I can tell.

Thought it looked familiar...:) The nitriding is pretty much permanent isn't it?

Any thing knocked down with it?

What's to trash , that's a nice rifle .

I think that's a wrestling term....unless it's a compressed load....:)

Around here we run Rel-22 and H4831 in our 280AI's.

Haha, nope just your buddy Steve always givin me a hard time about being a velocity whore. I have found that with the drop tube the bullet has just enough room that there is no compression of powder seated 50thou of the lands. That's the load I've been worked up for my 280ai. Needs some fine tuning, but clocking 3140 out of mine. I went the 7828 SSC route due to the availability.

When I call you a velocity whore , I mean it in a good way ha ha ............. and you are........... and there's nothing wrong with that , unless it's a rifle I want .......... cheap , and a good scope would be nice .

Blued swivel studs? Really??? Were you hammered when you spec'ed it??

Sell that POS and start over.

...going for the stealth look..:)

actually, when I got the stock from McMillan's Specials page four years ago it did not have studs.

A local guy who's very good at these things installed them for me.

Now, I have to rid it of the silver trigger and safety lever...........I may have to swap in one of my Timneys.....
