For those that knew him, Allen passed away last night at home after a long struggle with illness. He was 53.

He was a good man, friend, and a tremendous mentor in the hunting community.

Till we meet again.

Chuck, thanks for letting us know. He was very generous with sharing his knowledge and experience, both of which were extensive.
A classic reminder to enjoy the day, we don't really know what the future holds for any of us.

never knew him on here or in person, but my condolences to everybody. sounds like a man of wisdom.

wherever he is may his gun never empty and his scope never fail him.

Allen wasn't the kind of guy that needed to empty his rifle or use a scope that would fail.;)

Bit of humour, for those that "knew" him.:p

Someone should really make a compilation of a few of his "wittier" posts over on the campfire. It would make for a bit of good reading.
I loved his taste in rifles, and enjoyed his lack of compassion for the purposefully ignorant.
There will be a quite a few that will be less for his leaving.

I miss him.

I knew of his illness almost two years ago. It floored me then and if floors me now. I received an email from a mutual friend Tuesday letting me know that his time was short. It was.

I would love to have a compilation of his writings. I have saved some correspondence but wish I had saved more.
