Hello all

So I have a general question for the forum. Does anyone on here use Alliant 2400 and do you like it ? I have some and am wondering if anyone besides me likes this powder

Regards Greg

it used to be a staple when I could get it. Very versatile for cast bullet shooters in both pistol and rifle

IMR4227 is a distant second for me

I used it in my 35 Whelen with 158gr pistol bullets (worked very well), I've just started using it with my 357mag rifle with good results.

I've put a few lbs through some of my military rifles with cast bullets over the years. My best accuracy load in my 03A3 is Lyman 311291 over a mid range load of 2400. Have had good success in 8x57, 6.5 x 52, 7.62x54R and 303 Br as well . Only negative comment I have is I experienced a couple hangfires in 3006 with starting loads. Some gas leakage in most calibers with starting loads as well. Doesn't seem to be position sensitive with heavier loads. Kind of replaced 4198 as my favourite cast bullet powder.

2400 is an excellent powder for light cast bullet loads. 15 -16 grains in most milsurps rifle calibers can give really good accuracy, and be pretty cost effective. 2400 isn't position sensitive, and doesn't need fillers.

I've used it in my 25/20 and 357 mag. Great powder-clean burning. Ru ns like water through a powder measure. Difficult to find ( for difficult to find -read impossible) in todays world
