I just got notice that Alliant Re22 is back in stock at X-Reload. I don't know whether it has been hard to get or whether it is available at other sources (I have a good supply and haven't been looking for it), but thought it useful to post this information. The price listed is $107.99 a lb. Pretty steep price, but I gather that all Alliant powders have gone up in price.

That price is ridiculous. In stock or not, I would never pay that.

You will eventually or you won't shoot... don't say "never." That is a buck a round for my 6.5 Rem Mag... I can think of worst ways to spend my money.

it's going to be hard for them to gouge us on primers soon, unless they start offering up some primers to tempt us into buying powder

IN 10 years you'll be thinking today's prices were cheap!
I remember powder at $2.50 and primers at .$2.50/hundred.
But wages have climbed likewise.

That was my point... some people have a hard time catching up to new realities... if you are tracking global economies, things are not going to get better overall. There will be some peaks and valleys in supply and demand, but the general trend is upward. The prices we gag at today are tomorrow's deals... does anyone cry a river at $1.50/litre gas anymore? Three years ago it killed me to pump gas at that price. It sounds like some people are just going to get out of shooting altogether, maybe that is part of the global elite plan, paint us all into a corner where we have no options. I'm all for stocking up in times of plenty, this isn't one of those times, this is "tighten the belt" time, only get what you need... in this case, I "needed" RL-22, only had 6 ounces left for my pet load.

I'm curious about why the Alliant Reloder-series powders are so expensive (when available). For the most part, they are unavailable, but the listed prices of $107.99/lb. at X-Reload seems higher than prices for comparable powders from Hodgdon, IMR, and Vihtavuori. Sure, prices for all powder have gone up to what appear like exorbitant levels, but Alliant seems to be a bit of an outlier in this respect. Is it the distributor jacking up the price? Very limited production? At one point Vista Outdoor distributed Alliant powders, and then I read that Hodgdon acquired distribution around 2019 IIRC. What is known about this? Theories?

Expensive because of lack of availability I would say. I'm good personally for 15, 19, and 22 now, at least for a couple of years. Wouldn't mind coming across some 25 again. Or 17 and 26 to try, but haven't seen either for a couple of years now. - dan

Alliant powders are manufactured from abroad, thus the higher cost over other powders manufactureed in North America. You should go on #######, there is a profiteer selling Alliant Reloder #26 for $179 per pound.

But a lot of other powders are made abroad, yet cost much less than the Alliant line. A lot of Hodgdon powders are made in Australia, for example, but are more reasonably priced than the Alliant line. As for Re26, I have lots on hand, so won't be visiting the profiteers!:d

Some of us are completely nuts.
I got enough powder to last for the rest of my life and then some, yet I continue to look for deals.
Completely nuts.

Isn't that the truth! We gunnutz do have a weird chromosome in our DNA that accounts for the "sickness" we all suffer from.;)

I could definitely use a couple pounds of RL-17... it is what I am using in my .358-375 Ruger, and I am priming that rifle for African PG.
