Hi CGN

my Forster Co Ax is arriving soon.
will trim with a RCBS trimmer.

I've been looking for dies, and the 4 die lee ultimate dies cought my eye.
I will be loading for 7mm rem mag and i have lots of brass, but all fired in another rifle. so the FL die will initially be very handy and after shoulder resizing.

you guys have good results with the 4 die set?

and second i have 2 pounds of retumbo, will this load some good rounds?

could also do for some bullet recommendations. will be for hunting mostly.

your feedback is most appreciated.

cheers

I started with the Lee 4 die set and was happy with the price and results on my Co-Axe but changed the mounting rings from lee to Forster.

It was my only loading press till I needed more centre fire pistol rounds and then added a Dillon ( a perfect couple)

I started with lee dies for my 308. They were great for the money. I still use the fl resize die and the collett neck sizer.

I reload my brothers 7mm for him. We use hornady dies for that one. Haven't tried retumbo, just imr 7828 and rl22 under 150 grain barnes and 160 grain game kings

I have recently started reloading for my 30-06. Got a collet 2 die set and really like it. It can be used to find the lands for bullet depth also you are able to have a bit more control with neck tension.

My favorite bullets for hunt are hornady interlock. Priced well.

I like the 4 die sets - can't beat the cost (get the FL sizer, bullet seating die, neck sizing die and the factory crimp) and since I load mostly "hunting ammo" it's not like I'm loading 1000's a year. I full length size "the first time" then just go with neck size after that - been cycling the same 20 or 30 cases with no issues - again, each case is only getting reloaded 2 or 3 times a year for any given "hunting caliber".

Also heard nothing but good about the warranty with Lee although have never had to use it myself.

Bullets are kinda like women - we all have our own preference :) Hard to go wrong with Hornady or Nosler "anything" and they are available everywhere. Hornady interlock is "more than fine" and relatively cheap - Interbond or Nosler Accubond if you want something "stout", and of course the Partition is always a favourite.

Might I suggest Reloader 22 as a possible powder. I am using 160 grain Speer SPBT bullets at the moment for my deer load but working on a new moose load. I am thinking trying a Hornady 162 grain SPBT IL bullet. Should be a decent "all range" load for the big guys. I like the 160 gr in the 7 mm RM. for me it's the best of all worlds including long range hunting and targets.
