Info that came with my Lee mold says that a 10 to 1 mix of lead and tin should be good for my .44 Russian. As I have both in pure ingots I would like to make use of them.

Is that mix by volume or weight?

Thanks

Polar Hunter,

10:1 should be good for your 44 Russian!!! - that's 10% by weight.

2% tin is all you need for good fill-out. Tin adds very little to hardness. It is mainly added to lead to improve mould fill-out. I only shoot cast bullets in all my rifles and handguns and only go above 2% tin for max. loads in .357 mag and 44 mag. For these I used pure Linotype (hard but more expensive). With tin going for ~$25 / lb. anything above 2% is a waste.
