Walked into the local gunstore to try and find some .45 ACP (no luck) and there sitting on the shelf is what looks like a brand new Russian SKS with Bayonet and sling for $199 plus taxes. I did a mental run through of my bills that are due this month and I just couldn't bring myself to spend the money but now Im kicking myself. :D

So what is the differences between the countries for SKS'? Russian compared to Chinese for example? :p

I have three. Two Russians and on Norinco. Best fun for your money! Reliable, built like tanks. You can even go deer hunting with them if you want, just buy some soft points. The bayonet can even double as a monopod. :p I recently used my SKS at a 3-gun match.

Most people agree that the Yugo and Russians are the best quality. There is a lot of great info at the Red Rifle forum.

Here is a great sticky on the Russians, which is probably what you saw for sale....

Years ago I had one of the Chinese carbines. It was quite a nifty rifle. Accurate, chromed bore, dependable. Used it for a coyote gun in Idaho. They're pretty terrific.

Didn't you know that if you don't own a ruskie SKS your D*CK WILL FALL OFF!!!

Quick! Back to the store!

This is the truth!!! I bought two, just in case... and then sold one to a married buddy of mine after telling his wife (via cellphone, from the range) that his #### would fall off if he didn't buy it!

I handed the phone back to him and heard: "Honey, I need that to LIVE. Buy that rifle."

If he hadn't have married her, I sure would have! :D
