Howdy, had the pleasure of heading up onto the Hill for the Public holiday which is known as the Melbourne Cup Day...
an early start Tuesday got us on the hill just before sunrise, by the time we grabbed our gear an were ready the sun had just started to break over the ridge.

The lads lr- Myself, joeyhound and Wodjack

We spent most of the day contouring below the ridgeline an glassing where we could, a big face around a Km away.

The country wise absolutely epic!
we siddled around the steep mountainside for around a K an had a good spot to view so sat there for a while glassing an glassing..

Which happened to be where I took the shot from after I heard an animal above us about 60ms, as the mate was setting up a trail camera, his rifle was 10m infront of me(where the snake was) an he was 10m behind me ,
We couldn't get a view of the Stag amongst the Snow gums for a few moments until the mate started thrashing the bushes with a stick! The stag slowly an cautiously came down for a look, at glance I seen he had big Brows an big bases so I told the mate I'm going to shoot.

at 40-50m 1 shot wit the 300WSM and 150gr Corelokt Factorys... Projectile did not exit but dumped a lot of energy on the Shoulder region, the deer took 5 steps an tipped over.

After a few tense moments an once pronounced dead, the yahoos started!

My first Alpine high country head an what a way to spend a day with a good mate!
