I have a 7x57 Mauser 98 barrel that is stamped as "Firearms Co. Alpine; Made in England" I believe after WWII, there were several companies that would re-work German m98 actions into "hunting guns" - I think SAKO got their start doing that - and many others. I suspect, but do not know, that "ALPINE" might have been a British product for hunters? Using former German m98 actions?
I think there were MANY "Mauser 98" makers - Santa Barbara Arensal in Spain, FN in Belgium, BRNO in Czechoslovakia, besides the actual German plants at Oberndorf and Berlin and other places. I believe even various South American countries, as well as China had licences to make copies of Mauser 98 rifles.

DOT were made in "Waffen Werke Brunn" in Brno (Brunn in German) whereas DOU was the second factory called "Waffen Werke Brunn" in Bystrica if I'm not mistaken (I might be).If I understand - "DOU" was a factory code used by Nazi to ID the factory that made the rifle - I think "dou" might have been BRNO plant (s) in Czechlosovakia - would have been making K98 for Nazi military while they were occupied. Russians ran out the Germans - captured much production direct in the DOU factory - so have DOU that were issed to Wehermacht (i.e. used by German soldiers), have Russian captured DOU (never used in battle by them) and also have DOU that were re-worked to 7.62 NATO by Israel.
The bolt handle isn’t even hollow like the originals, unless it’s a replacement. But the seller needs to put a little more detail into the add. I’m thinking of taking my bid away now that I’ve gone back and looked at it.
