I am familier with both the ATR and the 200, so I don't need any specs. But I've decided I need to add a .270 to my battery again, and don't have alot of funding, so I'm considering one of these two rifles. I'm hoping to hear from ATR owners or anyone who has shot one, particularly took one hunting in the cold. My biggest concern is the plastc bolt shroud and swivel studs. How did they hold up. Would you recommend one as a hunting rifle over the 200, or am I just wasting $300?

they are both perfectly useable but why dont you save up for another 4-6 months then look how much cash you have in your hand and go from there

you do not NEED a 270, load 125 grain ballistic tips in a 308 or 30-06, its cheaper

The .270 is my second pick for my all time favorite cartridge, the .300 WM and 30-30 are my other two. I do need a .270. But the thing is, I have other rifles. Including a Steven's 200, but I'm not into fancy stuff. What I do get that's a bit fancier isn't out of nessecity. High figured walnut and deep bluing does nothing for me on a hunting rifle. I'm too rough on these.
