alright i want a new rimfire...

Everybody slags the Ruger.....my experience.......16 to 18 of 25 rounds consistent in a 2inch circle at 40 yards ....the rest of the clip in the 4 inch with an occasional flyer/flinch. And my buddy, Rick puts 18 to 21 in at the same distance with the same gun.
I should mention he's been shooting a grand total of 4 times.

Ok now that seeding is done i think its a good time to treat myself to a nice 22. I want to spend around 800 if possible. Prefer stainless steel because most likely be staying in my truck over winter. Also a recomedation of a scope would be cool. Will be using for small game like gophers and pigeons.
thx

With that budget..I'd check under the couch cushions for another $200 get and and Anschutz...but NOT store it under the seat of my truck. For your application, I'd look at a Ruger American Compact, and just wipe it down after using. Not sure if they come in stainless yet...? A Marlin XT is an option too.

If you can find one, the T/C R55 is a good choice. I use one for my truck gun. One of the most accurate semi autos out there and shoots almost as well as my custom Volquartsen.

I'd sure go for a 10-22 of one sort or another. I don't understand how I've been so lucky; for a gun that's so crappy accuracy-wise, the seven that I've owned have all been very accurate little rifles...without spending hundreds of dollars upgrading them. I do have an SR-22 now that I've had the action worked, I put in a volquartsen trigger & hung a Dlask barrel on...the work took an already very good shooting rifle & turned it into a tack driver that likes everthing from sub-sonic to "as hot as you can buy" equally and is accurate enough to stick a $400 Vortex scope on.

Another vote for the Ruger American Rimfire. I have the 22 inch barrel, and the gun is very accurate. Trigger is excellent too.

If you want a decent little stainless truck gun go for the 795 Marlin SS. I have had one for a few months now and love it. Reliable, accurate and very reasonably priced. If you want to spend your posted budget go for an all-weather Ruger 77-22. I have become a big fan of the Nikon Rimfire BDC scopes. Priced around 140-160 they are bright and a great value. Good luck and let us know what you decide on.

My savage 93 22wmr stainless rusted in my truck two winters ago after 8 days(-20's with a freak warm spell for a few days). Small specs all up the barrel, where the barrel and action meet and around the front sight, maybe the type of stainless savage uses?

Dar 22 with a stainless barrel. Ruger 7722. I'm partial to the Marlins though, so personally I run an XT 22 and 2 795ss. Also have a marlin 60scf but the 795 go out way more. There's also the cz 452 style if you can find one

I had this happen too, after that I was done with savage (again) the Marlins get treated worse and still no rust.
