Well, mine isn't much to look at compared to alot of the "My first deer" posts, but it sure did taste good, and the folks in rural Manitoba really lend a lot of truth to the provincial license plate "Friendly Manitoba."
Had there been a bit more daylight, I probably would have angled myself a bit better - the other side of it's head wasn't blown out.
I'm cooking up a roast with this little calf as we speak.
Either way, I got "the bug" in me now, and can't wait for my next trip out
Had a funny conversation with my hosts too:
Host: "We're out looking for jumpers."
Me: "Jumpers?"
Host: "The deer - they jump when they run."
Me: "Oh, sorry - in the city a jumper usually involves a skyscraper or busy overpass."
