Just received a set of new Altamont grips from a guy on the S&W Forum.

Best looking and best fitting grips for a small hand I've ever had on a gun! They are described as "Dragon scale/Stippled", perfect for my 686-6 "Rappy" Pro Series .357.

Unfortunately, they don't offer the same pattern and style for square butt K frames.

Pity that Altamont doesn't ship to Canada....

I really like Altamont grips. They are factory standard on several S&W revolvers, such as the 3-5-7 series and some of the other Performance Center guns. My own 627 down in Mexico came with Altamont grips from the factory.

I think it's a total farce that we can't buy certain types of grips for handguns here in Canada for lack of some silly export permit. I'm glad you got yours. I wish you could post photos. Here is my 627 with the Altamonts it came with.

Mine look similar but lack the finger grooves. Fit my small hand very well. The Altamont site shows the model very clearly.

I'd like the same configuration on my K frames but they don't offer them.

I really need to learn the pic posting thing as it helps so much in the description.

They will ship most grips but only if they don't have any logo or medallion. They won't ship anything with a colt medalion. They say it's trademark issues. They only have licences for trademarked logos within the US. At least that's what they told me.

How to post your own pictures

1) Save image(s) to your desktop.

2) Go to https://postimages.org/

3) Select the desired size in the first drop down box (800x600 is usually a pretty good size).

4) Select your files by clicking the "Choose image" button (remember, you saved the image(s) to your desktop, now go find them).

5) Copy the "Direct link(s)" provided by Postimage.

6) When posting on CGN click the "Insert Image" icon (picture of a tree), paste the direct link you copied from Postimage and click ok. Do this for each individual picture you would like to post.

How to post pictures from the internet quickly

1) Right click the internet image and select "copy image location".

2) When posting on CGN click the "Insert Image" icon (picture of a tree), paste the image location link you copied and click ok.

I would say you need to learn because here you have a really neat pistola that we'd all like to see and appreciate probably just as much as you'd like to show it off to us, and we can't because we can't see it. If I could choose one revolver to "play with" while I am still up here living in Canada it would probably be your Rappy. Second choice would be the 7-shot 3-5-7 Model 686 in the 5-inch version.

I can't wait to see yours. I log in everyday in the hopes you've posted photos if you care to know. Especially now, with those Altamont grips.

So then, if a "friend" in the U.S. buys a set of Altamont grips with the logo and ships them to you here in Canada, is that a problem? Seems like an innocuous work-around to me, but is it really?

I just love these:

Yep, them's what I got! Dragon scale & stippling. Nice combo. Mine came via the S&W Forum, not Altamont. The seller's bank charged me $20 for processing the cheque.

The bottom gun looks like an earlier model, not the current manufacture.

If it's the logo that keeps Altamont from shipping to Canada, I can do without it, but I was told it was because they didn't have the permit to do so.

Altamont actually told me grips4guns carries their grips and will ship logo'd grips here, but when I tried I seemed to be getting the runaround so I didn't follow through

I'll see what they tell me ....

Checked their website. Nothing of interest.

The beautiful grips in post #11 are all for RB guns, most likely L frame.

I've emailed Altamont re: K SB grips similar to what I've got on my "Rappy". All the types on their web site have finger grooves.

I had this exact grip on my 929 before I went to a Hogue big butt grip.

dogzilla was right.

Altamont will NOT ship grips with logos on them. They charge $15 for shipping on unmarked grips. grips4guns.com WILL but everything is 'out of stock'.

Closest to want I want will be the Altamont 'Bataleur' K frame grip with shallow finger grooves. I think I could live with that.

Got some very nice Hogue grips with deep finger grooves and they force my hand into an uncomfortable grip.

BTW - if you email Altamont, you hear back from them on the same day!

Exactly, you stand correct sir !

I ordered from them 2 times last year...

Be aware that the color/grain of the wood may differ form the pics on the site.

I like my Altamount grips !

G4G will ship anything Altamont makes to Canada for a $15 mark up.
