Alternate M-14 Stocks

I'm not sure how this going to go over with M-14 Traditionalists.
I'm planning to re-stock an M-14 that will be customized with an Anchutz/Tactical style stock for use with a bipod or from a bench. All my rifles wear this style of stock, it works best for me. There don't appear to be many options in the world. The only 2 I've come up with are US locations that prohibit export.This isn't a problem as I've ordered stocks and parts and had them shipped to a hotel that I go to every year and carry them home in bagage.
Has any one dealt with MPI Stocks - fibreglass stocks or
LAW483 - Tactical stocks for everything.
The last one states they won't sell to non American! which is too bad as one of their stock descriptions sound exactly what I'm looking for.
Anyone know of a Canadian source?
 
The only thing I can think of is contacting M14Doctor, only thing is, his computer isout of comission at the moment.

He may be able to modify something for you tp get the style you want.

Marstar has the Canadian version of the sage stock.

It is usually a very very bad idea to openly admit to committing a major crime. The US facists and other government agencies tend to frown on it, and impose nasty prison sentences.
 
He doesn't say when he did this "heinous" act. In years past it was not a crime. Heck, I used to bring home powder and ammo on the Greyhound bus from Seattle to Vancouver. It's only been the past few years that the yanks have gotten all stupid.

You'll also note that Sub MOA is currently looking at options that will keep him inside the law.
 
That is a very good point. I think it's safe to assume that he was speaking about the past, when that behaviour was totally legal, and that no past or future violations of US law are planned, because we are all good, law-abiding, happy little people here.

And if there were some sort of illegal activities on the way, obviously nobody would mention it because nobody else would approve of breaking the law.
 
Actually there is nothing illegal about transporting fire-arm parts such as stocks, scope and mounts ETC. in baggage on the airlines. The US TSA checks the bags prior to check in and our Customs only require a declaration. The US manufatcturers and suppliers are prohibited from exporting not prohibited from selling. I bought a Bell and Carlson stock last year by this route- no issue.

I have purchased a few stocks from MPI in Oregon. Super light weight, epoxy bedding blocks, etc. I got a factory seconds cast off from them for about $200 US. It looks sweet after about 20 hours in bodywork. But you can also but them completly finished.

This is not correct. While you are correct that you can take the parts onto an aircraft, you are incorrect that you can export items from the US. Search the posts on this board there are many who can and will quote you directly from US law and or Regulations. There are a varied number of parts, including ALL M14 parts, that are prohibited from export from the United States without special permits.
 
That may be true with be true with M-14 parts, I'm new to this part of the industry however thereis nothing illegal about going to Walmart, Gander Mountain or Shooters Supply and purchasing a scope or stock or bullets etc and bringing them home. There is no Canadian Customs issue or TSA issue that I'm aware of. I had confirmed with Canadian Customs as have some of my collegues who have done the same. The stock I bought was an off the shelf model for a hunting rifle, no issue.

The rules have changed for exporting firearms parts into Canada. We must now get export authorization for shipping both barrels and scopes to Canada. With barrels we are required to get an export license from the U.S. State Department. In the past Canada was exempt from this requirement but we now must get the license as we do with all other foreign countries. With scopes we are also required to get export authorization but it is through the Department of Commerce.

Before we are able to apply for an export license the end user (the purchaser) must get import authorization from the Canadian government. Individual purchasers may get this authorization on their own or to avoid the paperwork you may place an order through one of the importers listed below. Here are the steps to get that paperwork:

Thanx for the update, I'm getting more questions to what I believed to be legit based on the info I had at the time< which is fortunately more educational, than for the question I posted. Truly, thanx just the same, but I expect this in the wrong forum topic? I' a newbie but learning fast.
 
Your website links didn't function. I took the advice from Petrock and went through the archives that deal with this issue. I'm still amazed at the differences of opinion and interpretation. I also checked some work that M-14 DR does and that will probably be my answer, I would prefer to support local. And stay legal!

Ja, good plan. I mean, I'm all for saving a few bux, and I am very fond of "sticking it to the man"; but, having written that, the yanks really have lost their entire sense of humour around this, and ending-up in a US jail would really take the fun out of saving even a couple hundred dollars.

It's too bad they don't treat their largest trading partner with a little respect.
