I have a Browning BLR with a satin nickel receiver and stainless barrel. I love the gun for its short length and rapid second shot capability for "big woods" deer hunting.
Problem is, it appears the sweat from hand chemically reacts (for lack of a better term) with the satin nickel finish on the receiver - leaving large unsightly black marks. Yes, it's just cosmetic - but it's ugly and bothers me. The gun has been shipped back to Browning Canada to see if I got a "lemon" or the problem is just me.
I could go with a blued version of the BLR, but really prefer the increased weather resistance of the nickel/stainless combo.
I've heard of many other finishes that can be applied (hard chrome, etc.) and was wondering if having one of these applied to the receiver of the gun would be possible.
Any other input/advice welcome.
