Alternative to SKS?

I see the Canadian trinity includes the SKS, but I’m wondering what would be a better alternative for the same price?

There is no legal alternative for a semi auto rifle atm, especially in 7.62x39 or that price range. You could always buy an M1 Garand for 2-3k lol.

If Liberals win the SKS will probably go up quite a lot in price. If Cons win the alternatives will become legal again.

Make sure to get out and vote!

I prefer the wood stock/look to them but if you like tactical stuff then the ATI or Tapco stock is the way to go
I think a lot of people are going to go with the tactical look to them as all the actual tactical stuff got banned by the idiotic communists we call government

I am worried that the SKS will get banned next by either of the leading parties but thinking like that isn’t helping me get my SKS!

Buy it and enjoy it as long as you can. Don’t live in fear. If you buy it the liberals don’t know you have it, it’s non restricted so no registration. If the liberals stay in power no guns are safe.
 
I think the Conservatives will repeal a lot of the stupid gun bans. Cons are our only hope of keeping and legally using our guns. No gun is safe with the liberals in power. Many of us have banned guns and aren’t turning them in. I won’t let the liberals dictate what I buy or own.
 
I bought the basic SKS when they were dirt cheap. Aftermarket, I put Timbersmith stock on it. The smooth laminate Monte Carlo stock is geat, but was slippery. I solved that problem with grip tape. Then I attached a magwedge rail, and topped it off with a small red dot. At the time it did not break the bank to do this, and the accuracy gain was substantial. Especially with handloads (123 grain SST.) I have absolutely confidence that it will easily put down a deer down within it's effective range.
As an added bonus it looks really good, and can easily be put
back to it's original form. Though, it will cost a lot more to do this now, it's something to think about..

just to mention the alternative that got banned are T81 and M10X.

i see the prices for the SKS are edging up now already but i do agree about if liberal wins prices will go even higher.
 
The SKS is an obsolete fighting rifle designed to be used by untrained peasants. It is not accurate, it is not fancy, it is not worth the panic buying price. The gussied up tacticool versions are just pigs in makeup. However, it IS well engineered and it is capable of outliving just about anything on this planet, they’re very neat guns, but you need to be able to admit the pros and cons of a firearm. It’s far from perfect and it’s a sad fact that it’s about the best that we can do here. Vote conservative and you’ll have more alternatives to the SKS than you could possibly believe!
