Been using my m14 as my main hunting rifle for the past few years, the usgi Fiberglas stock is getting beat up, which is not a big deal, it's the cracking where the upper butplate screw is that I'm concerned with. Don't get me wrong the stock has been great but it's time for a change.
Anyways I'm looking to upgrade to something like the mcmillan MFS-14 with folding stock and pistolgrip. Tactikool but functional. Also strength and light weight is a must as I carry it on long hikes when hunting.
What are my options as I would like to stay away from the aluminum chassies. And the mcmillan would be better with the rear stock mounted higher online with the barrel. Thanks in advance.

a full review with complete specs will be coming to CGN shortly. I am in the process of registering as a dealer. You can p.m. me with specific questions if you wish.

Holy crap hijack

Welcome back Rooster33.......!!!!

I don't know about the McMillan...but I would hazard a guess that the weight of the hinge and AR stock assembly would outweigh a standard USGI....BUT I DON'T KNOW so I'll shut up.

Of course the other thing is compactness. If you are using a cutdown barrel, that already helps, the folding stock would possibly add in size(assume still proper OAL) but not necessarily weight

One thing I don't get about the McMillan is how low they have the stock with relation to the horizontal.

I believe TURF used to make folders out of USGI FG stocks for some CGNers. Maybe Turf is still doing some, along with 45ACPKing.
