Alternatives to crimping?

What I'm doing: Cutting the ends off the value pack 12 gauge shells to replace the pellets with slugs that I cast using the Lee mold.

I was wondering if there were options, other than crimping, to "seal" the end. I don't reload, so I don't have a press (or I would use it to crimp)

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

In stead of cutting off the crimp, open it up with a ssmall screwdrider etc, dump out the shot, insert slug and then push the crimp back closed. Just my .02 and worth what you paid for it.

ahhhh.....good one. I think there will be some excess room in front of the slug, but I don't see it mis-aligning itself within the wad. Thanks for the idea! much appreciated.

get a lee load all 2, that loader is cheaply priced and it works good for this. i have one and this is what i do for the 7/8oz lee slug. dont cut the crimp off u will need it.

for me winchester universal 100pack, 2 3/4" 1 1/8oz, lee drive key slug 7/8oz, 2-3" in at 50m.

Once you know what you are looking for, you can find a crimp roller that clamps onto a table or bench edge, for $10 or so in an antique or junk shop. They show up at gun shows, too.

The 'drill' version is the same idea, new implementation. More money. And youneed to use it with a drill. The old ones are cordless, too, and quiet!

But are they not anemic loads? This leads me to ask is there components available to crimp in my rock chucker? I have mountains of hulls, 50% of my shotgunning is slugs.

I didnt have/couldnt find all the components and i didnt really trust the whole bushing system with the loadall2 yet untill I get a scale.
It payed for itself +mold within the first 1.5 boxes or less and it was a lota fun.

The first day my buddy and I were waiting for a stall at the range and this guy with a shorty 12ga, was blasting away, with a box or two of some heavy loaded shells, by the end of our wait the guy was all most crying from the abuse he had laden apon himself. We setup and loaded up, after the first barage we had noticed that people were looking at us and seeing all our fun and pile of shells good times!!!!
