So came across Athlon optics , they look like really expensive chinese scopes, but are they quality? I do alot of questionable long range rimfire shooting.( As in how far can I stretch this 22lr/.17hmr round) would be interested to try one of these. Anyone got any experience with them? Theres like 3 other youtube reviews and a ton from the actual company so not much second hand.

Tom at Go Big Tactical and Jerry at Mystic Precision would be happy to answer any questions you have. Jerry has a few reviews posted. Keep in mind they're both retailers. End user reviews vary greatly, but people get very elitist about their optics.

A number of guys shoot the Athlon Cronus in our groups. I recently picked one up from Tom at Go Big Tactical. It has really been impressive so far.
Also the Cronus line is made in Japan, can't speak for the where the others are manufactured

I have the Ares BTR, I really quite like it, glass is on par or better than the Nikon black series (similarly priced scope). it also has a few more features and more magnification.

Athlon is going to allow you to really select a piece of glass in what ever your price point is, and it will compete with a scope that is generally more expensive.

I have a review in the Cronus, that you may want to take a look at. The Cronus is their top tier however they have lots of options at a much lower price point that have exceptional value.

Tom at GBT will work with you and find you something that will work within your budget. As stated above many guys here will vouch for him.

I have used a number of these scopes on my LR and competition rifles. They have worked very well.

If you are going to the BCPRL match in Merritt this weekend, look me up as I will have some scope there to view and purchase.

Most scope companies these days do not actually manufacture or even design scopes. They just put their names on scopes manufactured off-shore. Vortex, Athlon, Delta, Sightron, Primary Arms, Bushnell, Burris, Nikon and many others follows this pattern. Their top of the line scopes are typically made by Light Optical Works (LOW) in Japan, while cheaper models are made in China or the Philippines. Asking someone about their experiences with one of these brands is pretty pointless, as there is such a great range of quality and price. A $150 Athon Neos will have nothing in common with a $2,500 Athlon Chronus.
