I'm looking for a dealer close to Manitoba or in MB. that can Aluminum Anodizing 10/22 Magnum Research frame & barrel, the barrel is partly carbon fiber with steel ends.

looking to have this stripped and refinished for a Benchrest project. I looked locally & didn't get a reply from dealers in the city.

Most dealers don't do their own anodizing, and most anodizers have a minimum charge, and the barrel may be a no go in any case unless the steel and carbon fiber are removed

And most anodizers or metal finishers aren't licenced to work on firearms. Painting an option? BBQ paint is made for Al.

I could go Dura coat. but I was looking to have it anodized as I talked to Magnum Research and they said the frame was anodized at factory.

I was looking to have it done in a different color other then black. and was just thinking of dipping the steel ends of the barrel in anodize & not the carbon wrap part.

as for the gun it self it's stripped of all it's parts.

Your stripped 'frame' is a firearms receiver.

I doubt you will find anyone who does anodizing and has a business license allowing them to work on firearms.

Anodizing is an electrochemical process. It only works on aluminium so it will only work on your receiver. The tricky part is that anodizing will be applied to all surfaces of your part and may end up interfering with the internal tolerances, although an experienced shop should be able to account for that. Because you are dealing with 2 different metals, a product like arma coat, cerakote or the like will be your best option.

There is an anodizing shop in Kingston that is licensed for firearms. Their minimum charge for a hard anodized coloured tank is $260.

I recommend Duracoat or something along those lines.

Use aluminum black, it works , but the metal will determine the color. I used it on a gevarm. Didn't turn
black, it turned Grey. Still looks good

I found a local shop who did black powder coating. He blasted the parts with media and then buffed it all with 3 m . He sprayed the anodize on and then let it air dry. Was an excellent job.

Sorry to be picky Brian but this post makes no sense at all. Powder coating isn't anodizing. And you don't air dry anodizing or powder coating. So what sort of work you had done to your firearm is pretty much a mystery. Please clarify.

Brocolt, as mentioned you can only anodize aluminium. And any steel inserts in the aluminium need to be correctly masked off or the electrolysis portion of the anodizing will cause the steel to be eroded to at least some extent if it isn't totally ruined. So you can't anodize the barrel at all. The steel ends need to be blued or painted.

All of this means that you're likely better off with a paint coating like Cerakote or Durakote. And using these means you will have the same colour and sheen overall instead mixed colour and sheens from using different processes on different parts.

I said the guy owned a powder coating shop , I didn't say that was all he done. He had the equipment to media blast my aluminum chassis and barrel. And yes you right about the anodizing , I meant to say air dry the ceracote.. My bad.
