Having had a bad experience with steel cased 9mm ammo, can anyone tell me if there are any problems with aluminum based 9mm ammo?

Ive used it a few times in the past, and its always worked. I never noticed any difference using it. But I prefer using brass cased ammo whenever I can.

I haven't used a bunch of aluminum cased ammo but the few hundred rounds I have used in pistols have worked perfectly fine. Be aware though if you plan on using it in a PCC that most manufacturers do not recommend it be used in them.

I have used aluminum cases before and I can't tell any difference. Once hand gun actually preferred aluminum. It fed better.

I always just buy what is cheapest

This happened to me when using a semi carbine. Will never buy aluminum again. Top round somewhat out of battery and the round below in the magazine somehow ended up with that hole in it. I had no issues in pistols so they should be fine in those, but do not use them in Semi Auto Carbines.

with the over supply of brass 9mm cases in the country why use aluminum as one bad round can cause big damage to a rather expensive gun. just because the ammo is cheaper does not mean it is better. I reload nothing but brass for my shooting need.

I have never bought aluminum cased ammo. But I have reloaded it. I save the aluminum cases and when i get enough I load them up with a moderate load. They are handy to have for those occasions when the cases will be lost. Deep snow.

There just isn't enough savings for aluminum over brass to make it significant. I don't reload 9mm, its cheap enough when bought by the 1000, but I don't want function problems either. I learned my lesson when I bought US Forged steel case 9mm. Extraction problems galore.
